The other shoe has to drop at some point, hopefully this extremely dry fall leads to a wet winter. Also, the fall foliage is extremely poor around here this year. I’m so disappointed.

Fortunately there are several indications that we are about to end up in a much more active pattern potentially starting next week. And with a still well-above average Gulf, could get interesting here for storms. The fact that, unless something stupid happens, we are going to have a Gulf like that with no TCs to cool it down before storm season kicks up is going to make things interesting for moisture availability the next couple months imo.

Starting with April every month has been below normal in precipitation at GRR including this month so far.  The deficit starting with April is not as bad as some places but still a hefty 8.07" below normal since April 1.

Over here, we're only down .64 for the year and actually slightly above normal at this point in the month with 1.59 inches this month. You guys have definitely been much drier over there.

I was thinking this the other day when I realized its been basically cali weather here since August with little rain and beautiful weather. Being a snow weenie, I feel like this drought can mean great things for the winter as the pattern has to flip to wetter soon. Or it could go the other way and patterns die hard and it stays dry through the winter. Either way I'd rather it be dry than it being active and wasting precip during the fall.
