I've seen good reports of color, especially above 1500'. I'm hiking the MD section of the Appalachian trail next weekend. Color should be good in higher elevation. It will look green in the valley.

All the leaves were pretty much dead. Seemed like it was either summer leaf color or winter bareness. Still was very pretty. Here is are two only lightly edited pictures (first faces east, second faces west)

Was taking one of our cats to the vet early this morning. The fog was so thick that I could not see my kids former HS driving until I was right in front of it. Thick as pea soup as they would say.

Hoping today is the last day of August in October. I have planned a lot of soups in for the next week. So either it will have to start cooling down or I will have to crank my AC and eat them. The cats are wanting their heated donut beds on also.

Why is too much to ask for a normal September and October precip-wise to get overseeding done? It seems like it has been a struggle the last four or five years.

I still have not done the overseeding yet. Keep putting it off due to heat and now if there is a wash out that would be bad.

Its a gamble as to when the first frost hits. Normal time is late October, but hopefully with these everlasting Falls maybe it waits till the third week of November. Hard to say. 

Believe you need 45 days post over seed for seeds to live.

Yea, I also waited to aerate and overseed. I was going to do it two weeks ago, but I was away for much of that time and with the forecast not promising for rain, I waited. I am hoping for enough rain tonight and tomorrow morning so I can aerate and get good plugs. Then I’ll seed regardless and water if I have to.

Also, I looked back and it’s only been a couple recent years that were turds for precip in September and October, but it seems like it’s been longer to me.

Here’s to hoping everyone gets drenched overnight.

 We need to set reasonable expectations for overnight.    A number of CAMs suggest that there will be a narrow WSW-ENE swath of just over 0.50" somewhere between Alexandria and Baltimore, but much of the local area will be fortunate to see 0.25".
