Just took the younger Ms.J down to rehab her pony with a tack walk. Went as early as we could. Now have her back checking out of her house stay as she watches dogs. Even in the shade with a slight breeze it is nasty. They have a concert at Nats Stadium tonight and I told them that they need water up all day. But also will know the Metro will be running slower on above ground rail because of the heat.

Passed the forecasted high temp of 97 degrees, currently 98 with a heat index of 109.

Be careful with your pets as they are very sensitive to heat stroke if left outside too long, especialy certain breeds, such as Greyhounds. The issue here is the dew point and not being able to cool off effectively.

DC spiked to 99 and is back to 97

What you’re probably seeing are the 5 minute obs that are being converted to Celsius, rounded, then converted back to Fahrenheit. Only the hourly obs are shown in the original Fahrenheit.

97 could be 96 or 97. 99 could be 98 or 99. 100 is 100 or 101.
