...THE RECORD LOWEST MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE HAS BEEN BROKEN TODAY FOR
COLUMBIA SC...

COLD ARCTIC AIR HAS PUSHED INTO THE SOUTHEAST KEEPING THE
TEMPERATURE FROM RISING ABOVE 34 DEGREES THIS AFTERNOON AT THE
COLUMBIA METRO AIRPORT. THIS BREAKS THE LOWEST MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE
RECORD FOR FEBRUARY 19TH WHICH WAS 35 DEGREES...SET BACK IN 1895.

DAILY TEMPERATURE RECORDS DATE BACK TO 1887 FOR COLUMBIA.

Few observations:

17 right now in Easley - no way we get near zero, but if we keep good radiational conditions we may get to around 5. 11 this morning.

Temps much cooler in the area tonight at this time vs last night. Looking at CRONOS and Wunderground. Noticed Mt. Mitchell was already nearly -13 a few minutes ago - they're headed in the 20s below! Sassafras Mtn is SC down to 3 already - they may reach -8? Ceasar's Head was 1 this morning - not sure current temp, but could well go less than -5.

Not sure if this is correct or not - per Wunderground, Hogback Mtn in N Greenville County (3205 elevation) had a high of 9 today with a low of -2. Already at 2 currently!

Hard to believe a place in SC had a high of just 9 degrees !
