12Z NAM/GFS EVALUATION INCLUDING PRELIMINARY MODEL PREFERENCES
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NAM/GFS INITIALIZATION ERRORS DO NOT SEEM TO DEGRADE THEIR SHORT
RANGE FORECASTS.
BURGEONING TROUGH MID-CONTINENT
SURFACE LOW TRACKING THROUGH THE LOWER GREAT LAKES SUN NIGHT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PREFERENCE: GENERAL MODEL COMPROMISE
CONFIDENCE: AVERAGE

THE DETERMINISTIC AND 00Z GLOBAL ENSEMBLE GUIDANCE SHOWS SIMILAR
SPREAD WITH THE SURFACE LOW POSITION/TRACK THROUGH THE OHIO VALLEY
AND EASTERN/LOWER GREAT LAKES. THE 12Z NAM APPEARS TOO DEEP IN
THE MID-LEVEL HEIGHTS BETWEEN IA AND MI, BUT THE DEGREE OF
COOLNESS IN THE MID-LEVELS SHOULDN'T IMPACT PRECIPITATION TYPE DUE
TO THE ARCTIC AIRMASS/SOUNDINGS ACROSS THE REGION. TO DEAL WITH
LINGERING DETAIL ISSUES, PREFER A GENERAL MODEL COMPROMISE HERE
WITH AVERAGE CONFIDENCE CONSIDERING THE SURFACE LOW'S PROGRESSION.

I have a feeling with synoptic snowfall, then lake effect snowfall, and high winds, that western Michigan has quite the storm brewing! I'm pretty excited. Getting the snowblower ready.... :)

I'm going to ride this one out in Allegan tomorrow. Looks like LES is in the cards there.

Hoping this mornings model projections hold serve. If so you will be 100% on the money with that call. Good Luck Blackrock! We've been waiting for this one :sled:
