Bridgeport has now received 1.79" (45.5 mm) of rain. That breaks the daily record of 1.69" (42.9 mm) of rain that was set in 1970.

Interesting to note that a lot of the driest years produced some very cold/snowy winters.

I think a near record low snowfall season is just about baked in for next winter. I've mentioned this several times but some of our best snowfall winters are preceded by very hot and dry summers. Think 1966, 1993, 1995, 2002, 2010 and even last summer 2025. I'm thinking for NYC snowfall of less than 10 inches and an average temperature for the winter over 40 degrees. Those who like rainy summers should also like snowless winters because they go together. As far any hope is concerned the only hope is that the winter after next will be great a la 1995-96 (just on a lesser level) after 1994-95 after 1993-94 (which had similarities to last winter just on a lesser level.) The chances of a very hot and very dry summer in 2027 are very high and if that happens a snowy winter should follow in 2027-28.

Bridgeport picked up 1.44" (36.6 mm) of rain in the past hour. That is tied for its 5th heaviest hourly August rainfall. Today, it has picked up 2.35" (59.7 mm) of rain breaking its daily mark of 1.69" (42.9 mm) from 1970. 2.34" (59.4 mm) has fallen in the past two hours. 

Heavy rain has moved into New Haven.

I got 0.95" here this morning. All this rain combined with the lack of heat is great for the romaine lettuce plants that I have out there now for the fall. They are taking off. I'm glad the next few days look great though -- we definitely could use a drying out period.

Yep-I was questioning upton's forecast last night but they were spot on.  Models had very little and I got another 2 inches of rain here (unwelcome at this point)
