  1. Finishing up with a 4 day total of 2.87" here. The sun is struggling to break through now and everything is probably going to stay soggy for the remainder of the day.
  2. TWC is showing LGA at 84 on Friday. Meanwhile, NWS and AW top out in the upper 70s for LGA on Friday. Who's going to be right here?
  3. Came out for about 20 seconds in Queens. It got noticeably brighter for about 15 minutes but it's back to gloomy for now.
  4. 1.85" of rain is my storm total so far, with 0.99" falling today alone. It was very gusty this morning with 47 MPH peak reported at LGA but it finally seems to be dying back now to something more manageable. Just waves of heavy drizzle and lighter rain moving through ever since this morning, even though the radar is struggling to depict that correctly. Seems to be lifting north of Queens though so hopefully we get into the afternoon break.
  5. Yup I just heard that on the radio too. Looking at the radar, it does look like a bit of a longer lull after lunch for LI and the city with random light showers and drizzle. Queens was mostly dry slotted from 0900 to 1030 with only random areas of drizzle but that blob over LI and the sound pushed east into the city and is over us now. Mostly lighter rains with this wave.
  6. Looking at the radar, looks like the city might be getting a couple hours break from the rain till around lunch time. Few smaller tree branches down in my area and leaves everywhere.
  7. It seemed like an odd decision to postpone Friday evening events with the bulk of the storm off shore till tomorrow AM. But I would think it's to allow them enough time to break down the stage and equipment before conditions become hazardous to the crews.
  8. Any word on timing with this rain? TWC is showing Saturday is more showery in nature while putting the big rains for Saturday night into Sunday.
  9. Hope it's wrong, as we're entering typically one of the best times of the year weather-wise. 12z GFS pushes next week's rain out by mid-week so hopefully that one is right than the constant stream of rain/gloomy weather the Euro is showing.
  10. Temps are definitely overperforming with more sun that expected this morning. LGA is reporting 84 against a 80 degree NWS high. My station alone hit 87 for a brief period earlier today. Had to turn on the AC again after I thought I was done with it for the year.
  11. It looks like Central Park finally hit 57, marking the first time it has dropped into the 50s since mid-June. Oddly enough, LGA was stuck around 61 this morning and didn't budge much. Contrary to that, my own station reported a low of 57 this morning around 0620. Definitely a chilly, refreshing feel this morning with the low DPs and light breeze.
  12. Ended the event with 1.55" of rain here, nearly 1" of that came between 0600 and 0700. Welcome rain here after a dry week. Not looking forward to the muggy weather for the next 18 hours before the cooler, drier air moves in.
  13. Dipped below 60 for the first time at my location since mid-June. Very cool feel this morning but it's rebounding quickly through the low 80s right now. Great windows open weather to let some of this dry air flow in.
  14. So much for the 10% chance of rain that WABC was advertising for the daylight hours today during their 5AM weather forecast. Heck, NWS is still only showing 30% chance of rain even with that big blob entering the city.
  15. It looks like the rain will be approaching the city in another hour or two. Which is weird since the the NWS removed rain chances from the "This Afternoon" section. And AccuWeather/TWC wasn't really expecting much in their hourlies until they updated it after lunch to show increasing chances in the afternoon/evening.
  16. Star Trek terminology. Collected all of 0.04" over the last two hours...there is some rogue thunder and lightning in eastern Queens but failing to amount to much here. Even saw a patch of blue sky to the north and east around 1700.
  17. Definitely a deflector shield over the city. The streets of Manhattan are a bit wet but my station in Queens has reported 0.00" so far. Almost feels like a 7-10 split for now.
  18. Beautiful late August weather this morning. The clear skies were perfect to see the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket fly by this morning on the southern horizon between 0537 and 0541 with a very visible jellyfish tail to it.
  19. My location registered 1.69" from the event with 1.6" of it falling in the one hour time period between 0630 and 0730...what a deluge event.
  20. Recorded 2.87" at my station...most in over a year. Pretty close to what LGA recorded.
  21. Over 1.6" of rain so far between 1745 and 1845 here and still coming down like crazy. The subway isn't handling it very well and there are suspensions due to flooding.
  22. Recorded 0.1" of rain from the surprise morning event. Definitely a wetter period as of late with recordable rain for 5 of the last 7 days, though totals have been small, only totaling up to 0.47". Guess I don't have to water so much this week.
  23. Only 0.22" of rain for me...bit lower than I would've preferred to avoid watering the garden this week but it's fine with more rain chances coming up this week. Does anyone know what might happen for next weekend? Models seems to leave storm chances in much of the weekend, which is a bit of a bummer after the last 3 weekends were pretty dry.
  24. Lee Goldberg showed a very ominous looking shelf cloud approaching the city from NJ at the start of the 6PM newscast. City is definitely about to get rocked.
  25. The 78.1 dewpoint at CPK at lunch time felt miserable today. Are we within spitting distance of any dewpoint records for the city?
