  1. Only 0.22" of rain for me...bit lower than I would've preferred to avoid watering the garden this week but it's fine with more rain chances coming up this week. Does anyone know what might happen for next weekend? Models seems to leave storm chances in much of the weekend, which is a bit of a bummer after the last 3 weekends were pretty dry.
  2. Lee Goldberg showed a very ominous looking shelf cloud approaching the city from NJ at the start of the 6PM newscast. City is definitely about to get rocked.
  3. The 78.1 dewpoint at CPK at lunch time felt miserable today. Are we within spitting distance of any dewpoint records for the city?
  4. Squall line kinda fell apart over the city and sun is breaking out now. Ended this event with 1.26"...over 2/3 of an inch less than LGA a few miles to my west. I'll take the less rain though, since we're running above normal in general for the last few weeks.
  5. Flash flood warning in the city was extended from 0845 to 1045. Looks like we'll be hit by that line building in central NJ and moving NE through the city. 1.09" for me so far. There were two rounds of torrential downpours around 0245 and 0730 and steady rain from 0430-0730.
  6. It's been pretty dark in my part of Queens for the last couple hours with the showers approaching from the north. Though I've dodged that shower over Queens, as it's too far west of me. I see nothing but blue skies to the north so it should clear out soon. Not sure if that next area of storms around Poughkeepsie will make it down into the city. Bit surprising overall for a day that was supposed to be mostly sunny.
  7. 4-day storm total for me was 1.01". Got 0.28" yesterday (Thursday), which was a bit of a surprise for me. One heavier shower in the AM and two rounds in the late afternoon. At least the yard will be happy for a while longer with such an elongated event.
  8. It's not showing up on radar but there is random drizzle or showers in and around the city currently.
  9. Just a routine 0.54" in NE Queens, most of which fell overnight. July rain total of 5.14" unless some of these showers today or tomorrow are realized. I have a friend in northern Hunterdon county in NJ who recorded 5.84" of rain for this event. They hit the jackpot.
  10. Registered 0.11" through 1950 for this event. Just a few brief rounds of light to moderate rain over the last 2 hours.
  11. Kind of surprised by the 1651 reading of only 0.06" in CPK. I was in Midtown when that cell flared up at 1600 and it looked like tropical downpours for nearly 10 mins. Sure seemed like a bit more than what they reported.
  12. Channel 7 showed a rainfall graphic this morning showing parts of the city, LI, and Jersey south of I78 got very little out of this event compared to areas to the north. Two rounds of storms passed through my area of Queens yesterday afternoon for a storm total of 0.57".
  13. Tornado watch was just issued for the city and regions to the north. 14. Lee Goldberg was showing an HRRR model output showing 2-4" rain totals for NE Jersey, Hudson Valley, and SE CT tomorrow with NYC at the southern end of it.
  15. Definitely...bit hot in the sun but beautiful in the shade with the breeze. I wonder if the World Cup has anything to do with lower than normal crowds. Google Map is showing much less traffic than I would've expected on a nice summer Sunday. Ended yesterday's rain event with 1.80" of rain in NE Queens. Most of it was from the noontime deluge, as we missed the bulk of the afternoon/evening storms to the north and south.
