90/77 split at PHL today.
-
90/76 split here in Philadelphia today. Dewpoints fell to the upper 50’s for a bit. Thirty-fifth 90 thus far this summer.

If you have Netflix, there is an excellent documentary about the Joplin Missouri tornado of May 2011. It was actually quite moving. The destruction was breathtaking.

Topped out at 93 here in Philadelphia after a morning low of 78.

P.S. Since we’ve had so much severe weather along with flooding rains over the last couple of weeks I thought I’d mention I watched the documentary on Netflix about the Joplin, Missouri tornado from May 2011. I highly recommend! It was extremely moving. It’s amazing… how it sparked so many flashbacks to being a child growing up in the Midwest. The sirens… still enough to provoke chills in this 50 something adult.

Yep… Key West anyone? The dewpoint topped out at 79 at PHL late this afternoon. -
Three rounds of storms today here in Philadelphia. Some with blinding rain. Somehow still made it to a high temperature of 85°. Dew point at PHL topped out at 79 late this afternoon… Key West anyone?

Augdewst 2026: Summer's Last Stand

Low 90s forecast for Philadelphia where I’m located starting tomorrow through Monday or Tuesday of the upcoming week. Had three rounds of thunderstorms today some with torrential downpours … still raining lightly with a temperature of 81 and a Rangoon”ish” dew-point of 78. -
Thinking it might have hit 90 in Philadelphia today as well... so far only showing 89, but the inter hour readings showed several 90's after today's high was reported. If so, mini heatwave here with 90 Saturday, 91 yesterday, and possibly today. If that is the case our tally would now be up to 29 for the summer season.

Philly has had less than 10 on a couple of occasions… I think 2004 is one of those… not sure about 1996 as that is when I moved here from Pittsburgh. However, 30 always seems attainable here especially lately.

Yesterday’s 91 cinched the 4 week mark for PHL. Thirty is the average number in a given summer for Philadelphia. I am surprised the Franklin Institute does not have a higher number than 28 given that it’s smack dab in the middle of Center City.

Touched 90 again today here in Phila. as well!

True… I believe we only had a few more days in August that went into the 90’s. But overall August was much cooler. -

“Kissed” 90 (or maybe a peck on the cheek) at PHL today… 27th time this summer thus far. Last summer we were at 30 already, I believe. -
It actually topped out at a rather muggy 90 degrees here in Philly today. Looks like a rather “swampy” week ahead.

Cherry Grove is one of our happy places!

Fire Island?

Today was "exactly normal" in Philadelphia... high 88 and a low of 70. How often does that actually happen? Normal high and low hit on the dot, so to speak.

My brother lives in East Central Wisconsin and called a few minutes ago. A lot of people without power a lot of damage to the north of him. Also said that storms of this magnitude were really not in the forecast today; just hot and humid (his dew point topped out at 82 late this morning before the storms hit)...Just crazy! Meanwhile my parents are in Phoenix and the overnight low the other night was 97... the high there hit 117 on either Friday or Saturday, and since it is the monsoon season the dew points were in the mid to upper 60's. Unbearable, as my mom put it.

Just got nailed with a severe thunderstorm here in Northwest Philadelphia. It was raining so hard it looked like it was snowing. There was a period of pea to marble sized hail as well. Flash flood warning also hoisted. Sky seems to be getting lighter now…

Today was gorgeous especially with dewpoints in the low 50’s!!
