We just got back from a trip to Portugal, Spain, and the UK. All I can say is they have had a very long, hot, and incredibly dry summer. The leaves in London are all falling from the lack of rain and the grass is all burnt out. When we were in London it was their first "cool" shot of the whole summer, but moisture starved front, so no rain. It felt like October the first night we were there, but looked like it even more with so many leaves on the ground. We did not see one cloud the whole time we were in Portugal and Spain though. Weather was hot hot hot, especially in Spain. Great trip overall though. Really incredible places. Now hopefully we can maybe dry out just a bit...

What is trenton?  Philly has been running really high.

+2.0 for Trenton. It’s been “low grade” hot in Philadelphia this month  (lots of “cheap” 90 degree days… meaning 90 exactly) and the nights have been very warm! My electric bill is really showing it!

Yeah, they track 90° days on a philly board and its like 14 or so more days than trenton which is crazy.  Even a lot more than the usually hot Newark

Just returned from a week in the Adirondacks; this humidity feels oppressive! Going to need 24 hours to get re-adjusted.

I've heard people recently talking about how it's finally not humid around here...wrong! It's less humid than it was but still dews above 60 with a few hours exception here and there in some places. Looking forward to legit consistent dews below 60...someday...

Not really quantifiable but these every few day line of heavy rains and storms seems odd….cant remember the last summer like this.

Thankfully the hurricane season is slow. Last thing we need is an Irene-type storm dropping 10 inches on us.

Incredible rainfall rates right now. My Davis recorded a rainfall rate of over 6"/hr at one point. Not sure about accuracy of that, but the rates are definitely up there. Been raining for about a half hour now and already up to 1.23" and climbing fast. The end is near though!

Streets are completely flooded. Storm drain across the street overflowed. I only seen that a couple times in my life

Newark had hourly rainfall of 1.25" (1.41" so far today). Flash flooding was reported in the vicinity of Newark Airport. LaGuardia picked up 0.95" rain in an hour and 1.44" over two hours.

Despite the theoretical estimate that storm drains in New York City Area can handle 1.75"/hour rainfall, the practical reality is that once hourly amounts approach or reach 1.00"/hour, flooding begins to occur. That parts of New York City have seen flooding as per social media and Newark experienced flash flooding this morning is another illustrative case that the practical capacity is lower than the theoretical capacity.
