Wind is tossing anything that landed on trees all over the roads. Quite the time driving on Jefferson Pike and having flying powder balls hit your car. Am fine with nothing really. Just got my first Shingles shot yesterday and feeling it today. And with Mr. J having a Low pressure headache the driveway would have been left to itself. Melted really quick here, too. Wanted to drive up to the Watershed, but Hamburg Road was closed. Maybe a tree down, or still slick. I could literally see the difference between my place and 800’, which is 5 minutes up the road. Prob a couple inches there and I imagine several inches at the top of the mountain. One of these days we’ll time the southern stream and a high pressure to the north properly.
Eskimo Joe
43 minutes ago, osfan24 said: It feels like the Euro and CMC were most right with the area of heaviest snow, but they were just too light on the totals within that area. Those models had the coastal Niña blizzard look. The GFS was first to lock onto the blizzard idea and had the right totals along the coast but was too bullish too far inland. I agree with this assessment. It seems like the GFS can lead the way with northern stream dominant events sometimes.
Miss Pixee
2 hours ago, arlwx12 said: In Arlington, I think elevation had some impact. Far western Arlington (about 300-350 elevation): 3.5 West of Lake Barcroft (about 250-300 elevation): 2.5 Me (about 100 feet up from DCA): about an inch and a half DCA (just about on the river): 1.0 ((Of course, when I saw the predicted temperatures, I figured DCA didn't have much of a chance. I'm a bit surprised it managed to get an inch despite not hitting 32 for an extended period until shortly before 5 am.)) I posted this up awhile ago. DC is flat at the center and elevation is NW/SE. Notice the true 0' elevation is only at the river borders including much of SW. I'm in one of the hilly spots. Got about 1/1/2" in my neck of the woods.

stormy
1 inch in 1 hour yesterday afternoon, mostly still here, because we have only reached a high of 33 today with cloudy skies. Wintergreen, 15 miles southeast at 3000 ft. reported 15 inches at 8 am.

wxdude64
Still doing the 'special' part of the storm flawlessly. Been in mid-upper 30's with wind gusts all day. Currently cloudy and 30.2/17.6 with NW winds 17 gusting to 31 mph.

adelphi_sky
80% of this morning's snowpack has melted. Sorta puts the snowcrete into perspective. That was a weeks long winter wonderland. Call me crazy, but I'd rather have snow that sticks around for a few weeks than snow that disappears in less than 6 hours. 1
