Of course at 39N/90 we aren't always going to get sustained cold like it was. Looked and felt like a real winter, but definitely not enough snowfall.

Yeah, we had cold and no real torch this winter. Snowcover was great. And the atmosphere threw some HECS, but they both missed. We only needed one direct hit, and it would have changed the entire picture.

More powdery and lots more sledding. This time it was tough, hard/fast sledding and my daughter got a bit scared. We did make a killer igloo though! 3

Great spots that will help fill more of the gaps that need coverage. And LOL!! The fight is on!! I’ll send you both a PM with my phone number so we can communicate and drum something up. There’s more in the sub I want to meet too.

Rarely cold enough to snow here in Ninos anymore, although I would roll the dice with another 2009-10 type deal. Hopefully see we the combo of a severe -AO/NAO with a Modoki Nino again. Would be interesting to see what the results would be now.

Pretty close to before. 09-10 was the most -NAO Winter on record, since the 1800s. We are in a little deeper -PDO now.

Torchy torch starting next Thursday afternoon. Beware that there are hints in the guidance, mainly in the ECMWF and its AI version, of some back door cold front action during that period.

If no more snow happens I'll end up with 17" in my yard which is only 58% of climo. 5 years and running for under 20" for the season. It's just been a brutal stretch for the western and Northern areas. Some people love Cold but without snow it's just meh to me. Outrageous heating bill the last 2 months lol. I'm at 11" here. Only 3 of the last 20 winters I've been in WV have had less snow than that in an entire season. I'm with you on the heating bills, but I still love the cold.

Has to change at some point, but I'm not sure a fading Niña will do it. Not seeing any hint of that on guidance. Not sure gut feelings mean a whole hell of a lot. Emotionally, it’s absolutely a C- tops. I mean, our flagship storm was several hours of snow followed by mixed precip, and the last storm was an absolute joke here. Objectively, cold matters in the grading system and we had an anomalous stretch. I saw ppl playing ice hockey on a frozen pond in Baker Park and it was frozen for weeks. The biggest issue this winter was a lack of precip…an issue that’s been prevalent the last few years up this way. That said, I drove thru Gambrill today and they still have a couple inches up there at 1200’+, but that’s also a Frederick microclimate.
