CPcantmeasuresnow
0° even. Tomorrow morning should be the coldest morning for the Urban areas and the shore areas. Tomorrow night with the winds dying down and if the skies remain clear should be the coldest morning for the suburban and rural areas to the north and west.

I’ve never sure how it was ever figured out how -30 for example “feels” like in the old and new way. Or on the other hand how 110 feels like. I guess they have to assign a number to how dangerous extreme cold like this or heat is and how humidity and wind speed worsen it.

I read this earlier this winter. It's old so I will probably look for a better source later before bed. https://ggweather.com/windchill.htm

jm1220
Down to 4. Maybe we can slide down a couple more degrees but don’t think we make it to zero. Not that it matters with how brutal it is. Thankfully tonight will be the coldest night of the winter and it’s up from here.

With this weekend's Arctic blast, it could reach 100% coverage. The last time this happened was 30 years ago in February 1996 and has ocurred only 3x in modern history. I'm amazed in 02-03 it did not totally freeze

Roger Smith
6 at NYC at midnight (low for Feb 7th). It could still fall several more degrees. A moderate wind is better for continued cooling at mid-town sites, if the wind drops the urban heat island spreads in. 1

Peeked at MMU (4 dgrees) and MGJ (1 degree) and conditions are pretty uniform across the entire area. Most places are between 0 and 5 degrees. Highest I saw was Wantagh and AC at 7. Even Montauk is at 6 degrees. Coldest I saw was Newburgh at -4. Everyone's windchills are well below zero.
