This is awesome.  I can't remember who said it but to get an event like this at the beginning of a pattern is a gift.

It really is. This should hopefully be a great next 40 days. I can smell it.

If it makes anyone feel better UVA general public is currently experiencing the heartbreak that we’ve been drip feed for a week all at once. Lots of posts of how could this happen and where’s my 15 inches.

I thought the general public would be thrilled that it didn’t happen. Maybe I underestimated them.

If the future radar is to be correct. The rain on the western side would be incredible besides almost all of Delaware.  Those temps drop and if flash freeze would be dangerous. The reds down south of heavy precipitation.

Precip hitting the side of the house sounds like pop rocks/rice krispies.

We haven't had a sleet bomb in a while so I'm down for this. Hopefully we can avoid it going to ZR. Although...this week is going to be hell at work so I would be totally fine with a full week closure (which is really just WFH).

The sleet line is also coming from the west.

Good news is with these rates even when pingers mix in, we’ll have such a solid precip rate we should continue some good accumulations.

@wxmeddler or @MillvilleWx what’s the ruling on measurement when p-type changes to sleet? Do you clear your measurement location? I know sleet is counted as SN in records, so need a refresher course.
