This shouldn't have been much of a surprise. This was well signaled for days as a short duration, high intensity event. And models were showing near or just below freezing wetbulb temps even to the coast. That's not a terrible antecedent airmass.

Yup dp were in the middle teens this morning I made it to 36* before the heavy snow started quickly down to 32*

I didn't expect it to accumulate on all surfaces so quickly but that's what heavier rates will do for you especially in January.

Probably not a 10:1 accumulation, especially in Manhattan, but we have over 1 inch here in Bayside. Still probably a few hours ago, maybe we can make it to 2"?

It will probably be closer to 7-8:1, which is much better than what would have been the case had the precipitation been lighter.  Outside the City, things are on course and some areas could see ratios near 10:1.
