In 1993, IAD had a freeze on October 1. I was working a temp job in a building on Avion Parkway right next to the airport, and all the grass was white with frost.

Thank you for the info, IAD seems to be an ice box compared to the other climate sites.

Should be a fun night in the mountains of Washington State.  Perhaps they will get more snow tonight and tomorrow than what we will see in 2+ years.  I remember being up there in September a few years ago near Leavenworth, WA and there was snow/sleet with accumulation at some higher elevations.

IAD is perfectly situated in a little shallow bowl which promotes cold air drainage on calm nights.

RSTM2 COOP site - had my first sub 60 degree high f the autumn yesterday. Got down to 36 last night, yet somehow our hibiscus on the deck is still pumping out blooms.

Mine is doing the same. It’s going crazy with blooms so late.

Last three days highs, 60, 56 and 57 yesterday. Next 7 days the forecast highs are between 49 and 56 and lows 36-40 with at least a chance of rain 5 of those 7, yep fall is here. Probably fire up the woodstove Monday or Tuesday for the first time.

My Mandevilla vine is covered in flowers now.  Might bring it inside by the end of the week though.
