Took some adjustments to the Catoctin downslope breeze to get my three point shot to fall, but overall, a very Colorado-like day.

LordBaltimore
1 minute ago, Stradivarious said: What is this? These are sounding rockets launched by NASA. Not really familiar with what they usually carry but this one sounds especially cool "The TOMEX+ mission will focus on a layer of atomic sodium in the atmosphere that peaks at about 56 miles (90 kilometers) altitude. This sodium layer forms from the constant influx of dust grain-sized meteors that burn up in the sky. A specialized laser aboard the TOMEX+ rocket, tuned to a wavelength that excites sodium atoms, will cause the sodium layer to fluoresce. This glowing band then becomes a natural tracer for atmospheric motions, allowing scientists to track its bends, ripples, and swirls as energy moves through the upper atmosphere."

PrinceFrederickWx
0.86” this month. Driest August and one of the driest months ever since I moved here. Yard is burning up now. I visited Stephen’s City and Winchester earlier this month- guess I brought the curse back with me.

MillvilleWx
Looking back at temperatures this month, I think this might be the best August this area has seen in terms of thwarting hot/humid conditions since the summer of 2014. Lows in the area will remain near to below normal for the next 10-14 days leading to some spectacular starts to the days ahead. Will gladly accept after what was a MISERABLE late-June and July.

dailylurker
Oh great! RIP October lol. I can almost see the heat dome building from here. It's so beyond nice outside that it's ridiculous. My cannabis plants look like they are flowing in a controlled environment. Normally they are fighting rain and humidity. This weather is also great for my business. I hope it holds for another 4 weeks.
haudidoody
I can't remember the last time I had my windows open for four or five days in a row in August in the mid Atlantic... ever. The last time was probably when I lived in NW NJ in the 1990s (where a typical summer day would be like this and I lived largely without A/C).
