cyclone77 Posted April 21 Share Posted April 21 Just noticed the tulip polpar has many black/shriveled leaves from the hard freeze. Most other trees aren't as far along so appear undamaged. weatherbo Posted April 21 Share Posted April 21 Pretty nice day here. Sunny, light winds, 48 for the high. Tomorrow looks like a warm spring day with a high in the low 60's (haven't had many), then turning a lil rainy Monday night. Tuesday will see a morning high around 48 with temps falling to around 30 for the afternoon as rain changes to snow with an inch or so. Upper teens possible Tuesday night. Although a new record wasn't technically set due to a midnight high of 63*F, DFW spent much of the daylight hours yesterday in the upper 40s & lower 50s. The official record minimum high was 53*F. Torchageddon Posted April 22 Share Posted April 22 I got down to -2.5C/28F this morning, blue skies at least. Thankfully no wind which made it okay unlike the past 4 days of horrible chilly winds! Late last week it would be raining and dark overcast in the mornings and then clear up by mid afternoon seemingly 3 days in a row. But the main reason historically for the fruit growing belt is actually the opposite. The proximity to the Great Lakes keeps it colder in the early/mid spring depressing vegetation development until after the threat of frost and freeze was largely over. Vegas was 90/16/84 yesterday, RH 7%. And even that's nothing, especially in June when the heat really kicks in but it's still before monsoon season. The one we're about to see, however, was 100% overdone by guidance (in both intensity AND duration), which I made very clear last week. Regardless, people shouldn't be complaining about this April as it's been quite nice for the most part. Unlike 2018 when nearly the entire month was stuck in a wintry pattern. It’s been steadily in the 50s since Saturday, we’re going to have a hard freeze tomorrow night, and be around 80° all weekend with lows in the 60’s. Just bonkers 10th warmest mean temperature over the first 23 days. Prior to 2006, only 4 years were warmer (1955, 1977, 1878, and 1985), and the last one by only a tenth of a degree.
