Just had a gust probably 50-55mph, trees swayed pretty good. Also torrential rain but radar looks lighter.

More rain than I was expecting here in NW Nassau. I’m glad about that because it’ll weigh down the huge planters I couldn’t move. We already lost a large tree limb that broke only a fence (thank goodness). Unbelievably we still have power.

Hook echo on the cell just SE of Islip and rotation on the cell to the East of that as well. Both have special marine warnings for waterspouts.

Believe it or not winds here are actually calm as the center passes nearby.  Next up for us is that burst of strong winds from west and north west as the storm moves away.

In Morris County the worst of the conditions so far have been reminiscent of a strong to borderline severe thunderstorm.  The low vis and howling winds were also somewhat reminiscent to a strong nor'easter.  Max gusts thus far were probably the 2nd strongest of the summer.  Many of the susceptible branches may have been blown down by thunderstorms earlier this summer.
