  1. I’ve been asking that for years, some people are nudges and nudniks . (Hi from a fellow Sullivan county homeowner .) I’m staying in Brooklyn for this one.
  2. Yeah , it’s all fine , with us having a house up in the Catskills, I live up there from May-September, I don’t get much past 90-92 on the hottest day. With relief every night, here in Brooklyn there are nights with temps above 80 all night. I’m not doing that , and my central air cost a fortune.
  3. To me it looks like the coast is going to rob the moisture, The blob seems to be moving directly east/ northeast leaving us ( city western L.I. is stuck right between the lighter snows to our northwest.
  4. The colder obviously returns in the atmosphere above us, light powdery snow is falling in Brooklyn. The whole area of precipitation seems to be moving out in another hour or two.
  5. I am so tired of every storm mixing and changing to sleet much earlier than expected. We were going to be on the northern fringe...etc. it was snowing beautifully we could’ve ended up with 6 inches easy, then this disgusting sleet starts to fall , A warm tongue, warm mid level, I just hate all these dumb excuses, I want to go back to old days , I’m 47 always lived in Brooklyn , all I want to just one snowstorm without some frikkin sleet , as I’m watching it changed back mostly to snow again, but once the warm arrives in the upper levels you know it’s pretty much over. I guess if I want to full snowstorm I’m gonna have to move to my second house in Woodburne in Sullivan county, (Catskills). There might be a point to the warmer ocean , changing the climate . Yes we get more juicier storms , but we also got issues with staying plain snow, especially here in The southern half of Brooklyn.
  6. Yep, it wet bulbed down to the mid 20s , snowing beautifully here in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn , almost 2 inches already on the ground .
  7. The problem is it’s gonna work out at 32°, not good enough for accumulating snow, hopefully the in-line low merges with the ocean low and starts pumping colder air from the upper levels or at least colder air starts bleeding in from the Hudson valley. Meanwhile snowing moderately sticking to the colder side of the street.
  8. Don’t kill me for saying this , but precipitation looks very spotty. I don’t see this all coming together as modeled or planned. Radar is not impressive at all this early morning.
  9. Interesting that JFK is at 22 with a DP of 16, LGA is at 24, With a DP of 18, CPK at 23. Here in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn my station is at 22, DP of 19 about an inch maybe inch and half. This is much colder than I was modeled, I know it doesn’t make a difference if the upper levels warm up, but still I was supposed to be in the low 30s today and may be around 30 tonight. We are running 6 to 8° below that.
  10. I have lived in New York City for 47 years, storms that start early always do well, i’m gonna keep on ehhhing and ahhing, usually usually ends up not panning out. So yes I did find that to be the case.
  11. This is in Bensonhurst ,Brooklyn. In case you want to know. The lower levels are saturating slowly, 60% Relative humidity and 27° on my weather station.
  12. I use radar scope, it’s really good and updates every 10 minutes, costs $10 in the App Store . But I have it for years and it’s worth it. it won’t let me post the link , so just look for RadarScope in the App Store.
  13. major radio stations In NYC keep on repeating themselves about mixing and changing to rain in the city on the coast more north west what the heck are they looking at?
  14. I have been around since the days of the other forum I think it was called northeast weather. Anyway , it’s been almost impossible to get a pure snow event in the five boroughs. Actually the last time was that mega storm on Saturday , we got walloped with like 30 inches in the southern boroughs , I think it was January 23,2016. Whats up with that ? Milder ocean , storm track , just hate the last few years always ends up with the pingers and sleet. This southern Brooklyn so I guess it makes sense .
  15. Interesting that the NWS has Brooklyn at 45-46 mph. The amount of damage and trees down in my neighborhood would say that my station wasn’t wrong . I’m at 30 ft off the ground and pretty accurate. my station shows the highest 15 min average at 54 mph and a gust up to 74 mph. Huge trees don’t come down at 45-46 mph.
  16. Person killed in queens from falling tree BREAKING: Person Killed From Falling Tree In Queens, Numerous Others Injured
  17. Yup , cloudburst in Borough Park, Brooklyn, around 1:25-1:35 picked up an inch in 15 minutes, highest rain rate 5in/hour. -See chart below 5 min intervals, First column rain rate , second total accumulation ⬇️
