61F in BTV today with the snowpack eliminated. The drop has begun as it is 45F or so as of this post. We will see what kind of make up snow we get up here.

High of 52 briefly here but mid 40s most of the day, pack has survived for the most part still full coverage, down to 41. Can someone remove my post limit for storm obs, thank you

drove from ottawa back to vermont today,  snowpack was quite literally nuked, i'd say 75 percent wiped out in ottawa and MTL with lots of high piles remaining but lots of grass.. between ottawa and montreal in the conutryside there was still pretty much snowcover, but tons of fog took me an extra hour drive

 

once i got S of montreal lots of rain and tons of fields of water, the temperature continued to rise from 50 in MTL to 59 just over the border got out to pump gas felt so nice 

when i got home in saint albans VT, where literally ZERO snow on the grass remained, other than scattered piles , it looked like deep spring what a change from when i left 2 days ago and the snow was piled up to stop signs in spots! .....well i guess thats the negative of a low density arctic originatiiing snowpack lol

 

 

BUTTTT it was 51 when i left ottawa at 1230 pm, currently its  -10C with 1/2 mile in SN......looked at the traffic cams doesnt look remotely like the place i left this afternoon with some whiteout conditions and the roads are deserted lol

 

 

currently i wait in vermont. i can see the radar lining up nicely with a swath of mod SN back to my west  just about to cross the international border in upstate NY..... SREFs have us >95 % for 12 inches of snow, not sure i believe that but a heavy heavy thump is incoming to be sure.....i will take 6 inches after the nuke job, not often get that chance to reload that quick..

Low is near PA-MD border west of CXY and heading for ALB and central Maine. Heavy snow developing west of low center will move across upstate NY into VT, 10-20 inch potential there. About 5-10 inches in Montreal and eastern townships trending to 10 inches Sherbrooke and far north NH and ME. Severe flood potential for most of southeast third of Maine with these temps and further rainfalls overnight. I'm guessing most or all of that is in the forecasts but that's my contribution anyway ... for southern New England, you'll get the same as Toronto got, brief sleet, brief snow and clearing, a frozen surface again but snowfalls only in the 0.2" to 0.7" range.

Dipping into the 30s now.  This should be interesting.  Rapid drops with 20s now in far upstate NY.  Certainly kept full cover in the yard and neighboring woods...impressive melt though.

Cold air is pouring through the Champlain Valley down into the Hudson.

You can actually track the surge on radar, and especially with the velocity.

That is pretty awesome to watch for sure. It is going to be rough on those roads overnight.

Snowpack is wiped out here. We can erase snowpack pretty quickly here... but this is one of the most impressive i can remember.

43F on the car with ridiculous fog while going out to Piecasso for a pizza.  It was warm today.  The lowest river drainages and hollows never mixed out fully...but a lot of spots had up and down readings too.

When the wind did blow, you could feel the dews and warmth.  When people are like that's a warm wind....that's what today was.

Now we chill.

Below zero north of Lake Huron, and 60F in parts of eastern SNE...going to be an interesting 18 hours.

Yup, Pete i don't even think saw 40's today, Rick (Logan11) dropped -13°F in one hour to below freezing in the last hour.

Mixed precip didn't hang on long at MSS and OGS, basically an hour or two and then snow.

Pack was obliterated today around here. I went from about 6 inches of solid cover in the back yard this morning when I woke up down to basically a couple of small piles in the corner now.

Still about 80% cover here surprisingly. It was holding on pretty well through Dover and sherborn and into Holliston driving home from work. Fog was ridiculous on the back roads. Couldn't see anything at times. At other points it was totally clear. 

We should be wiped out sans piles by morning though. This 55/55 stuff works on it pretty quickly. 

I kind of agree with metherb about 1996 though. That was absolutely epic. That wiped out like 40" in some spots within a few days. This was like 12-15". No comparison really (maybe 20-25" in spots in CNE gets cleaned out?)...though the peak melt rate in this is probably comparable...both years had temps in the 50s to near 60F with rain for hours. But 1996 was relentless. 

I will also give a personal nod to December 1996. That cutter obliterated like 18" of dense cement IMBY right before Christmas. I was pretty bummed about that one.
