Interesting event. Definitely shows you how vital moisture can be. Definitely better moisture below 850...but once the mid levels got a bit more juicy...(you could see some higher PWATS moved in), updrafts no longer choked. Also, increased shear and better lapse rates per ALB sounding. All it takes is a slight change to a better environment and boom.

Watching the storms in SNE from up here in Central NH 100 miles away.  Near continuous lightning show.  Counted 100 flashes per minute. Looking north  another 100 flashes per minute from the cells in N NY/VT.  With 2 distinct areas of heavy thunderstorms north and south and clear skies around me this is probably the most lightning I have ever seen per minute.
