burgertime
Are we really upset that the HRRR is bringing down totals for an ice storm? I get if it were all snow but I'm thankful. Spare me no power and tree damage.
burrel2
Do you think an Ice Storm Warning are warranted for parts of the Upstate? Well a winter storm warning covers freezing rain as well as sleet accumulations, so I thinking debating which one to issue is a semantic arguement. calculus1
Yeah, the HRRR has a precip minimum from CLT to Durham. Widremann screwzone in full effect. The RAP looks similar. I would have expected the precip minimum to be further west in the foothills. Hey! Leave us alone over here, James. It's about time that we weren't the precip minimum. PackGrad05
I'm not concerned about central NC dropping off at all. The bulk of the precip was never expected to arrive this early anyhow... Still a long ways to go in this one and there is a LOT of precip on the radar to the south and west...

Cold Rain
WRAL going for a high of 17 on Thursday, which would tie the all time record low high for RDU.

Not to mention a low of 0 Friday morning. I haven't seen that in a long time. And it's crazy, this is happening in mid-Feb.

jshetley
If something does not change fast GSP will bust this for their piedmont counties from Greenwood to Chester. Laurens is at 30 now and I am sitting at 29 now with heavier precip getting close. My forecast from GSP is for little to no ice tonight and I cant see how that will be right. WYFF shows Jonesville at .30 of ice which is closer to reality I think.
UpstateSCBud
Chris Justus and John Cessarich at WYFF have upped their forecasted ice totals for the upstate. Talking possible crippling storm now with totals in Greenville up towards .6 inches.

They have Greenville getting 0.03" of ice which isn't logical at this point.

Half inch accrual looks to be a given, and just enough sleet to make the coating look like it has pimples, to quote on of my favorite posters-It just got real- Brick
