weathafella
It's definitely pretty out there... preexisting piles now look fresh. But snowgrowth kinda awful right now. It's been sand all day. Hopefully if we get more of the marine component growth gets better. But I bet we're at 7-8 inches total and may well have a foot by 9am...even with fairly pedestrian rates. weathafella
This map makes no sense, where it shows the dark green, is where it is actually pouring heavy snow atm. Let's see what the 48 hour total is though.
N. OF PIKE
1/4 mi is heavy snow...over 1/4 mile up to 1/2 mile is moderate snow. Anything over 1/2 mile is light snow. I took it as Bob relaying what KTAN was reporting and that KTAN has never reported 1/4 Vis or at the very least that their visibility obs are off. HIPPYVALLEY
Actual predicted snow totals may be off here but qpf might come in close to model consensus. Steady baking soda here since 8pm .3-.5 "/hr. Gonna' be some effort to clear and driving sucks.

butterfish55
Best snow of the day right now. moderate and snow growth looks great. I might find myself 5-10 miles too far west for the really good stuff. 16.6/
SlantStickers Anonymous
Pretty steady 'sandy' flakes, though they've noticeably increased in size as I drove back home from Middleton. I've got to say, I didn't see a single main road, even 114, that wasn't totally snow covered. Another 30hr even at crappy rates will make for equally crappy driving. Just measured 6"

Clinch Leatherwood
winds just turned back to NE here. Snowing pretty hard. No model has done a very good job with the banding over SE MA, or even temps. HRRR continues to blow chunks on how far east the cold got down this way. Tough forecast for those to my north... Clinch Leatherwood
3z HRRR a bit worse than the 2z HRRR which was worse than the 1z and 0z. No idea what that is all about or if it is a reliable signal

Dotb
If Boston gets 10 more inches of snow from this storm, this year will already crack the top 10 snowiest winters in Boston history. 4 weeks ago, there was 5.5" for the winter.
Semper911
Scott wins this round on the RGEM. this general idea looks great to me, where I'd expect the max to be. 48 hour total snow. You called this whole thing, dude. The lesser qpf, the south jack, the whole overall look to the storm. This board wouldn't be the same without you. And you have been doing it since I first started following these wx boards in the Wright Weather days. Honestly, when you post, I stop what I am doing and I pay attention. Good work, sir. bristolri_wx
That coastal front really hasn't moved too far west in the last few hours. Maybe 5-10 miles at most if you look at temps on the WU Wundermap.

Yeah I'm curious why it's doing this. Initializes about right but then overestimates the onshore flow. Overestimating the low...? Not sure.
