Obs/Weenie disco thread for SWFE to coastal Feb 2

Damage In Tolland

Recommended Posts

everywhere has had a good stretch but the differences for central and eastern zones are like night and day, literally double and triple. had the blizzard produce what was forecast back here we would be talking epicosity or close to it....at least today was a bit more uniform however central eastern zones still did a good 3 to 6 more generally speaking

Can we get some of the folks up in Luneneberg, ORH ,Interior Route 2 Areas to get some some snow depth measurements today.

There's got to be some 50 inch depths up there in places

No, it's more like 36-40...maybe its low 40s in a few spots. It's actually a chore to get a snow depth right now, lol. It was down to about 25-26" a couple days ago.

NOHSRC sat estimates has the 30"+ jack running from ORH to SW ME.

I'm gonna try and get a core sample. I bet there is probably "only" about 4" of liquid in 35" or so. Some weenie spot may have around 40" but anything over 12 to 1 settles pretty fast. This will settle out to 27-28 again in another day or two. We probably need to get another 2 inches of liquid in the pack to have a sustained 3+ foot pack like 2011. At the peak we had 38" that only settled to like 33-34" after a week with even a few warmer days above freezing in early February.

Ludlow has jacked locally in the majority of storms since last year on the pns. I am skeptical.
