terpsnation
Seriously. What is usually the closing threshold for classes at UMD? I have a Wednesday class I would rather not go to I believe it is a combination of sun angle + whether or not the snow is good snowman making snow. Very scientific.... Don Cherry's Jacket
Heavy wet snow and high winds? What could go wrong. Can't envision ratios being over 7 on this one for the event as a whole.

catoctin wx
Clown maps screws DC That sharp cutoff in Frederick County scares me. Obviously rooting for a north trend along with most everybody else around here.

Bodhi Cove
On my phone but from what I'm able to see and read, it appears the east side ( I-95 to the middle bay) is now a all snow event. Is that perception correct? I'm looking at the area from KMTN to BWI. Thanks in advance
WxUSAF
Chris87 suggested we should put even less weight into clown maps than what little we do now. With the UVVs, frontogenesis, and possible convective banding that's going to be happening somewhere, the snowfall accumulation map could get crazy and highly variable over short distances. I'm probably in an even worse spot than you are if this doesn't come north a bit. Chris87 suggested we should put even less weight into clown maps than what little we do now. I never take those things seriously, but its fun to look at

Don Cherry's Jacket
depends on where you are. LWX AFD posits 10:1 ratios out my way. Fair point. But, even that's relatively low for where you are, right? In the immediate metro, can't imagine anything remotely close to that.
Don Cherry's Jacket
it's about normal, I'd say. LWX suggested 7/8:1 for DC metro. Agree on around 7 for metro. For some reason, I thought you got more of the 12-15:1 ranges.

Deck Pic
Sorry, but Ray's post adds nothing to the discussion. The sharp gradient has been one of the primary focal points of the discussion here for 4 days...Maybe next Ray can tell us there might be precip issues at the lower elevations or that the euro is south of other guidance
