I'm in full shade now and the three monitors are reading 99.2, 99.3. and 99.7 for the hot one, and it was reading 102.2 a few minutes ago. Now that's cool, in more ways than one :) T

Edit : At 3pm I've got 98, 98.2, and 98.7, Can't say enough about the quality of clouds :)

Congrats. I know you're proud :)

I'm being contrary. I've dropped 4+ degrees in less than an hour, but I can see a bit of sun trying to come through the clouds. 97.1 on the coolest sensor. 98 on the hottest one. Tony

I'd be much happier if these were record setting cold events

Hey y'all! I'm from PA on vacation down in Hilton Head, SC until Saturday. Man is it hot outside even near the ocean and with the sea breeze! Is there any chance of storms forming down here later today/tonight? I would love to get some lightning pics over the ocean!

Fayetteville getting hit pretty hard at 2:45 and the ones really taken the hit at the moment are in southern Anson/Richmond/Scotland County right along NC/SC border highest DBZ shade possible. Also just noticed 2 new cells pop up coming down the escarpment. Amazing watching radar loop how these storms go from light green genesis to max dbz shaed in one 15 minute loop.

I think today is one of those days where they will end up putting a warning on almost everything that pops up.

KATL at 105o at 3:52. Crazy hot again, but not enough to break the record.

There's still time. It's a guessing game right now if it does or doesn't. But Friday's high wasn't recorded til 4:55 pm. Remember we're on daylight saving. So it's really 3 pm solar time when it's 4 EDT. Plus, solar noon is ~12:37 pm so a 3 hour lag time for maximum heating would really be 4:37 EDT. But obviously for today and yesterday the nuances of the time of max temp is dependent on mesoscale features/clouds/dewpoint advections/outflow etc.

If the bolded temperature can be verified as accurate, it appears a SC state record was tied on Saturday.

MRX leaving the door open for relief over the next several days:

.SHORT TERM (TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT)...LITTLE CHANGE IN SURFACE
RIDGE OVER THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS THROUGH THE PERIOD. UPPER RIDGE
SHIFTS SLIGHTLY SOUTH THROUGH THE PERIOD. PARTIAL THICKNESS VALUES
LOWER SLIGHTLY. MCS ACTIVITY WILL LIKELY ROLL SE ALONG THICKNESS
PACKING AND AFFECT NORTHERN THIRD OF MRX CWA THROUGH THE PERIOD.
MODELS DO NOT HAVE A HANDLE ON THIS IDEA AND PIN POINTING TIMING
VERY DIFFICULT AT THIS TIME. HOWEVER EXPECT SOME STRONG CONVECTION
AND DEBRIS CLOUDINESS ACROSS NORTHERN AREAS. THIS ALSO WILL AFFECT
AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES SOMEWHAT SIMILAR TO TODAY. MOS TEMP GUIDANCE
HAS BEEN UNDERESTIMATING THE WARMTH OF THIS AIRMASS. FORECAST GRIDS
ARE A COUPLE DEGREES ABOVE GUIDANCE THROUGH THE PERIOD. THIS
CHALLENGES THE RECORD HIGHS FOR MONDAY JULY 2. CHA 99 TYS 98 TRI 97
ALL SET IN 1954. HEAT ADVISORY WILL LIKELY BE REQUIRED FOR THE
CHATTANOOGA AREA MONDAY. ELSEWHERE HEAT INDICES ARE FORECAST JUST
BELOW ADVISORY CRITERIA. WIDESPREAD 70S OVERNIGHT AND MID 90S TO 100

CLOSE TO MEX/HPC GUIDANCE FOR TEMPERATURES
