That is a winter storm radar that dreams are made of. Usually these things are pretty progressive, but this bad boy slammed on the breaks and and said wtf, lets stop in DC for a while, see the sites, maybe grab lunch. Then as its about the leave it says, ah, lets see some more sites, not sure when I will be back in DC, lets make sure we plaster everyone one last time before we gotta go. He called up a buddy and said, Hey, I was just in DC, great town you should visit sometime....Buddy says sure I think I can make it around Feb 9-10....

I always wondered if storms had real personalities and feelings, and could talk? If so the December 26, 1969 storm was one cruel prankster.

Walking home a few days after the second blizzard in february and when they cleared the path on the sidewalk the snow was nearly up to my chest on either side... It was an unbelievable experience. Also taking a walk during the storm with the snow coming down so fast I couldnt even see my house from nearly 50-100 feet away

I was just thinking about this image, but I didn't have it saved to post. I think some of the most amazing things that we saw last winter were the satellite images (especially WV) showing the moisture reaching all the way back to the central pacific

Wow. Hard to define a "favorite" moment, there were just so many! Especially the entire period from Jan. 30 through Feb. 10. But offhand what comes to mind is the excitement before the Dec 18-19 storm after so long since we last got a big one here...the anticipation the morning and early afternoon on Friday, Feb. 5, just before and right as that snow began...waking up surprised on Feb. 10 to a blast of wind and whiteout/blizzard conditions after turning in the night before seriously thinking it could be a major bust. Well, I'd also have to add the sheer awe of seeing every single model dumping 2"-plus of liquid equivalent on us for the Feb. 5-6 event...it was almost scary. I also remember appropriately drinking Becks beer the night of that Feb. 5-6 storm, watching the posts on Eastern (yes, I purposely got Becks, in honor of what seemed like a "BECS"! ). Here's a few pics, from the 3 big events:

my biggest memory was the stress free modeling of the Feb 5 storm. Once the models showed it, they were relentless in continuing to show it. The only time the model changed was to show more qpf

I went back and read a lot of the obs threads before eastern shut down. It was funny even though the models did what you say there were still some funky posts going on as people would panic a bit about a wobble here or there even though the final result was always gobs and gobs of snow. Oh no it's a hair South or oh no it's less amplified or oh no it's trending too far North. We are such a paranoid bunch it's pretty funny....and sad.

This year should be back to normal....any modeled storm in the long range is just fantasy then as the models show cold and dry for as far as the eye can see it will snow a foot by accident.
