Even at my latitude it's uncommon - only 6 of 28 Octobers have had measurable snow, most recently in 2018. Elsewhere in Maine - Gardiner had measurable in 2 of 12 Octobers, Fort Kent 8 of 10 but only 4 with 1"+ and none more than 4". BGR 1973-75 had only traces, though the Maritimes had a blizzard on 10/20-21/1974. We also had 0.7" on 10/26/1962 in NNJ.

powderfreak
These are special days. Very hard freeze last night, lawn so white it looked like it snowed, with a low of 26F. Then pop a 70-burger this afternoon, driving around in shorts and a T-shirt with windows down. 44-degree swing from hard freeze to sliders and windows open. Even shorts weather up at 3,000ft right now. 11

But even better than that is there a possibility of severe weather after tomorrow! Now THATS a vacation! I've taken that train from Williams. It's pretty cool to go through the different climate zones. Higher elevation in Willams with the Ponderosa pines, down through desert and back up to the South Rim. I loved that area. After that we drove down to Sedona. It was a beautiful drive.

Yeah these dry air masses with no vegetation left growing and leaves falling off trees… temps just swing up and down so easily. Lost 20 degrees in just over 90 minutes with the sun going down. 68F at 4:55pm to 48F at 6:35pm. 1

Maybe up by the Mass/CT border it wasn’t as good? But that’s not the case here, and on the drive yesterday down to the south in CT, yet again.

There hasn’t been spectacular color this season and the posters here backing that. Enjoy the blinding colors there I guess and wear appropriate eye protection 1

Enjoy the blinding colors there I guess and wear appropriate eye protection I don’t make anything out…I say what I see. And why would anybody say it’s beautiful, if it wasn’t? I certainly wouldn’t. Now I guess one can say maybe I live in an area with alot of maples that provide good color. But as I said…drove down the shore yesterday, and it was stunning all the way down. Last year it ended up excellent too. I think more posters agree with me on this, than you. You live where there are alot of oaks…so color is duller where you are, so maybe that’s why you say it’s dull every year. No matter who you ask….they’re gonna tell you the color this year has been fabulous, because it has.
