Augdewst 2026: Summer's Last Stand
Brewbeer replied to Prismshine Productions's topic in New England
I'm its first and only owner, I bought it new in early 2003 from a Ford dealership in Brookfield Mass, they had two 2002s left on the lot and I picked it up for $13,900. It has just under 87k and I put less than 1,000 miles a year on it. it's never been back to a Ford dealer 3L V6, automatic, posi rear end, 7-foot bed, AC, single CD player, manual windows and door locks. The original factory steel wheels rusted out 10 years ago. The truck does have rust but I don't drive it in the winter and I don't drive it in the rain if I don't need to, and I usually don't. It lives 98% of the time under a tarp in my back yard, where the mice can enjoy it to it's fullest -

yeah, I've needed AC - but only in the car house hasn't needed it; windows and fans at night, had a fleece vest on this morning (62/61F at 6:30 am) wheeling the cans to the curb for Friday pickup currently 76/65F IMBY -

64/64 here, windows open last night looks like dews will be dropping through the end of the week - good news -
Mowing today, did not finish, ran over the second yellow jacket nest of the season. Will need to work on that after dark. Lawn has come back nicely, now that cooler weather and lower dews have arrived.

are those the ones on Kettle Pond? As we were exploring the area, we noticed that Kettle Pond had a bunch of lean-tos that you could only access by paddling or hiking in. -

There was no cellular data at the campsite unless it was between midnight and 6:00 am so I didn't get to post during, but did want to post a couple of photos I got from the trip: Hiking up Washington (with my "adult" children) from Lakes of the Clouds: Fox lean-to in Big Deer State Park. Vermont has the best lean-tos, hands down. Glad we had it too, it rained 2 of the 3 nights we were camping, and one of them was a full on thunderstorm with at least an inch of heavy rain: -

Wow, what a find. Absolutely the quietest place I’ve ever been. Dead silent at night. I recommend. -

Had a window seat at Red Rose on Main Street when it went though and posted about the hail. just about everone in the restaurant was looking out the windows when it was whipping, it was quite exciting for a minute or two, there was quite a bit of foliage flying around from the wind and hail. Had a few route detours due to downed trees and emergency vehicle calls we had to navigate on way back from dinner. -

Last year we stayed down by Killington in Gifford Woods. This year the kids wanted to check out the White Mtns. but NH camping options really lag Vermont in both quantity and quality, so picked a location where we could get there within about an hour's drive, and still be within easy reach of Burlington, which is always on my list when in the area. -

Lean-to at Big Dear next week Monday-Thursday. I was hoping to get an on-water lean-too at Ricker Pond but waited too long to make the reservation. -
