Mrs.J Posted yesterday at 11:10 PM Share Posted yesterday at 11:10 PM 63 mph gust at the Lewes Mesonet. Initial winds blew in and it has subsided now. Still a lot of lightning and thunder. The line blew out and settled down a bit.

That wind when the line blew in was blowing so much that you could not see very far out the windows. Mr. J had just gotten back with our dinner before it all hit. It's got nothing on the full-blown desert that is southern Calvert. Radar is now clear that no rain will fall here again today and it won't next week either. We won't get real rain here until late fall when we start getting those nino-fueled Gulf lows. Yeah, this pretty much sums up the last 12mo. What a waste. Herb@MAWS
1.16” total imby/Columbia on July 18. —0.11” during pre-dawn t-shower —1.00” for late afternoon t-storm —0.05” Saturday evening after t-storm 4.44” so far in July.
Mrs.J
Went back and got last years July total to compare to this July so far. July 2025 2.73” July TD 2026 7.76” I know that Frederick seems to be the rain magnet to some but it usually is the Northern part of the county that gets the big totals. The Southern part, especially the SW portion has hit the jackpot this summer though. 3

Rain north, rain south, black hole in the middle. We better make up for it this winter. With a raging east based El Nino? wxdude64
Set a new record 'warm minimum' for the date of 69.7 degrees, old mark was 69.0 degrees from both 2015 and 2013. Wow it is incredibly muggy/humid here this morning with partly cloudy skies, 72.9/69.0 degrees at 7:50 am. A small thundershower rolled thru here about 3 pm dropping 0.03" and winds gusted to 28 mph, that was relief for about 8 minutes until it cleared and the mugginess/heat returned. Yeah, I should have been more clear - I meant that it "should" be a rainy winter with more southern stream lows. But I will believe in mythical rain when I see it in my desert. nw baltimore wx
It seems that I got lucky yesterday compared to nearly CoCoRaHS stations, and ended up with .77” from early and afternoon storms. The two closest stations to my east got about half that. I also didn’t expect to still smell smoke today.
