Perfect glass(es) of rose on the back patio kind of evening.

Soo nice out.

And no worries about the shorter days in the offing- we will still likely be warm and humid well into October. I'm sure you will get sick of it too. B)

There probably aren’t many here that remember it, but your post reminded me of the most dangerous water toy ever made, the Water Wiggle. I’m pretty sure that thing maimed a few kids.

Well, at least I only got wet this time and and not a concussion.  But it was refreshing. Needed a cool off from planting.

I have shed the shorts and short sleeve for sweats and long sleeve flannel!

What a beautiful early fall morning!!

44.7 at 6:10.  Staunton record low for June 16 was 43 in 1961.  Charlottesville from the same air mass 48 in 1961.  D.C. record was 50 in 1917.

Va. Tech Canaan report at 6:10 was 34.7.

Fireflies

Electric in my backyard last night, doing the shimmering/flickering deal. Everyone should leave some high grass and leaf piles in a few patches to give them a fighting chance. I'm just a few blocks from the asphalt and concrete canyons of downtown silver spring... But I have many lightning bugs

Yes! "Leave the leaves". If everyone would let at least a corner of their yard stay "messy", it would be so much better for fireflies (butterflies, moths...). We manicure and spray way too much to worship the lawn gods.

Went on a morning hike of Harper’s Ferry MD side. Beautiful, got there at 6:30am and avoided the crowds.

It's a damn shame the Big Boy steam engine isn't coming back west through Harpers Ferry. That would've been an EPIC shot coming out of the tunnel and going over the Potomac.

Is that the MD heights trail?  If so, did you park on the Va side and have to schlep over to the trailhead?  I used to be able to park on the Md side in little nooks when I had my Jeep, but last time I went they had that general area closed off for parking.

I've never been there during the warm seasons. I do my hiking during winter. Colder the better. I've done all the popular hikes, but without seeing a soul. I hiked to Annopoils Rocks and back from route 40 in 2014. It was -5 at the trailhead and probably -8 or -9 at the rocks. I didn't see one single soul. I've been to Cunningham Falls twice and never saw anyone. The Falls were frozen. It was really cool. I love extreme winter conditions for my hikes. I like to hike on top of the Catoctins during the windiest days of winter. I've got all kinds of stories lol

Ridiculously beautiful day today. Unreal
