Believe a lot of apple orchards in Sussex county and ny got hit hard too.

Mild actually this week with clouds but rainfall cut way back and sure a cool weekend coming up but 70s aplenty with a nice spring week to follow

Yeah big changes last couple days.  We need the rain but even tonight's has been chopped back to .25-.50

It's May in the CC era, it doesn't take much to get above normal. 

The pattern is more about keeping the 90+ heat away than enforcing a cool pattern

It will be rainy tonight into tomorrow morning. A general 0.50"-1.00" rainfall appears likely. Following the rainfall, temperatures will top out in the lower to perhaps middle 60s through Saturday. 

May will likely open with cooler than normal conditions. Sunday could be especially cool with highs only in the upper 50s despite partly sunny skies.

The ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly was +1.5°C and the Region 3.4 anomaly was +0.7°C for the week centered around April 22. For the past six weeks, the ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly has averaged +1.47°C and the ENSO Region 3.4 anomaly has averaged +0.27°C. El Niño conditions will likely develop during late spring or early summer.

The SOI was -5.41 today. 

The preliminary Arctic Oscillation (AO) was +0.224 today. 

Based on sensitivity analysis applied to the latest guidance, there is an implied near 100% probability that New York City will have a warmer than normal April (1991-2020 normal). April will likely finish with a mean temperature near 55.2° (1.5° above normal). 

Supplemental Information: The projected mean would be 2.2° above the 1981-2010 normal monthly value.

Similar here, .42"  Those last 2 freezes were not good for local fruit growers.  Read the same for southern NJ as well.

Farmingdale only starts in 1999 so several warmer rankings prior to that would be missing. Islip finished 12th warmest. The strong onshore flow kept LI cooler in the rankings than NYC.

Did pretty well here with .68" rainfall last evening into the overnight.

Total for April: 3.68".  Not bad but 60% of that total came this week.  Month prior to this final week of the month was very dry.

.74" total, 3.54" for the month, about .50" below normal for April here. The hard freeze last week did a number on the apples around the New Paltz area. They're talking like 70% lost blossoms.

May will open with cooler than normal conditions. A shower is possible on Saturday as cooler air moves into the region. However the first 7-10 days of May will likely see temperatures average below normal overall.

Other tornadoes touched down in Macon, McLean, Adams, Hancock, and Montgomery Counties. Baseball sized hail fell at the Ballpark in Arlington, TX as the Texas Rangers played the Cleveland Indians. 2011: Chicago has its GLOOMIEST April ever! The frequent precipitation led to persistent cloud cover for much of April. According to Midway Airport observer Frank Wachowski`s monthly records of percentage of possible sunshine experienced was the cloudiest April on record with only 32 percent of possible sunshine.
