yeah I got 3 notifications in the last hour, they changed now to 2-6 days... I'm sorry, didn't we spend millions about a decade ago clearing up trees anywhere close to major transmission lines to that never happened again after 2011?? jacking rates up for it too. I understand if you're remote and it's still unworkable but at this point nobody outside a few boondocks people should be out more than 2 days

Yah and the shit storm that followed slowly stopped this effort over the years to the point that towns either put pressure on them to scale it way back or stop all together.   Three towns near me are so overgrown that i expect at least 40% outage rate, double the normal rate.  We haven't had a really good tree clearing storm in a while

was that the tropical storm that zoomed through here at like 60mph? yeah we lost a couple limbs on that one damaged the garage, but I remember after 2011, Irene and the storm in Oct, the state set aside billions, eversource also, to trim all residential and main trans lines. I've got people yelling at me that it's no big deal, it's not even snowing... I can't win with people who don't have any weather knowledge whatsoever and rely on Google p/c forecast or don't listen when I say "overnight" tonight... unbelievable

Yep. We had a good amount of damage in town and many were without power for a week.

Hopefully the blizzard warnings woke people up

Jesus seriously? I do remember people bitching about it when they started, taking the "charm" away from some neighborhoods etc, but they also complained when that charm was all over the wires and roads in 2011 and beyond.. anyway still lightly snowing here, looks good south, as this deepens

How many of you SNE (us) weenies woke up with a mega tent or ladies all wet just thinking about what is to come? All timer? A contender? Lay it out here.  No snow maps just predicted rank in your life. Top 5? 10? Or Meh been there done that.  Tough for me as I have so many but think top 5. My analogy is Jan 27 2011

I bet CoastalWx had to go to the emergency room so he could get "calmed down!" :D

In fairness to them. They get porked. A lot.

They sure do. I get the worry. I have become quite worried myself. I see this incredible beautiful storm and wonder to myself why can't that ridiculous initial thump make it a little farther north....just one time why can't we get a super thumptt for six to eight hours of 2-4 per hr with thunder and lightning. There's the 1.5 to 2 feet with an inch or two before those rates and one or two after. Just give us a quick 20-30 and then let it all congeal east into the same places it always does and they can have it for double the time and have their 78 redux. Those of us who want to get buried don't care about hours of flurries and house shaking wind gusts and ground blizzard conditions as long as we got the meat already

Holy shit look at the meso lows on hrrr.

Pretty exotic don't remember seeing so many mesolows gyrating around like that outside of TCs

Haven't had a chance to post or look at upstream data... grocery stores are insane right now and progged winds are giving me serious worries about power loss.

NAMs / HRRRs look excellent

19z NBM for any curious... (note straddles 48h period so I posted both below)... whatever cocktail of models it ingested, it's held steady:

Not trying to get crazy here, but the bottom one if that is the latest actually has somewhat the snowfall configuration of what '78 did. That's kind of crazy to actually see that.
