Well, the first 'warm' day forecast was a fail. High was 35.3 degrees (at least above freezing) vs forecast of 43. A lot more clouds moved in around noon (or we'd have hit 43 easily) and temp locked right at 35 rest of day. Now down to 32.1/12.0 at 6 pm.

I ended up gaining 53 degrees today for a high of almost 41. Warm enough that I washed my truck for the first time in forever - my god it was disgusting. Canaan NWR rose nearly 67 degrees...a record difference between hi/lo there (I know it hasn't been in existence all that long, but still that's pretty damn impressive especially since we have a ton of snow on the ground). But, the air is super dry and with a bit of a higher sun angle, voila, a noteworthy rebound.

Temp hit 7.0 around 7:30 am yesterday morning, tied the record low for the day with 1989. Currently 19.4/14.4 at 8 am here with a partly cloudy sky (high cirrus). Even if NWS is off 8 degrees like yesterday, the 55 high forecasted will be mid/upper 40's, should see some melting.

Can feel the sun already this morning. At around 80% coverage of sleet but expecting that to fall off today. My guess for the high will be 64 degrees.

Drip drip has already started this morning. You can tell the arctic high is gone. Back to reality. My beautiful arctic blue sky is back to hazy and cloudy lol. The past two weeks were one of the most memorable winter experiences of my life.

This figure is obviously going to moderate quite a bit during the next week, but up to this point DCA has seen its coldest winter since 1996, and BWI its coldest since 1984.

BWI still had 6” snow depth yesterday. And I’d guess today too? Think this maybe top 3 duration of snow pack that deep? Already # 8 for at least 1”.

It's a stunner - for all the snowpack fetishists - this is about as good as it gets. The depth of the snowpack - sealed in like it is - is genuinely rare.

Sitting at -11.6 degrees for the month so far, and still a glaciated whiteness on the ground. Zero complaints for the month.

One more degree and I hit 50, currently 49.1/31.8 at 1:45 pm. Those 60's from Roanoke south look to try and make a run this way??

47 degrees, and other than on rooves, its having very little impact on the snow pack.  No water on the edges of piles along driveways and roads.  Still the same 5" depth we started the day with.

42.4, pack still looks pretty good. Some dirt/grass is showing in a few more areas but nonetheless very white.

Man it's scorching outside. I can literally wear a fleece jacket without freezing my ass off.

I turned my thermostat up to 70 given the relative warmth outside. Heat pump not working so hard and I dont need to start a fire to keep it from running constantly. Kinda liking this.
