I think the whole issue with people here is they actually thought they were going to get 2 feet a week ago. Not the way the game works. A week out the models will give you a very general idea of MAYBE a chance to score. I know the whole "the big ones are sniffed out" thing. It's bullshit. The pattern MAY be good for a snowstorm a week out. But the details take many days to work out. And it IS going to snow. The fact computers can tell you that 10 days before it happens still amazes me.

There are still people not here that think they're getting 20" because their phone still says it.

Is it good?  My wife said to stop watching the porch light.  Before she meets her maker we can watch one show

The porch light, lol.  That does sound like some new streaming series.  My wife would've said the same thing back in the day, but after 30+ years of marriage, she knows when to pick her battles now.  When I'm watching the porch light, there will be no interruptions from the peanut gallery.

I thought this was funny and helpful.  I don't know what a sleet sprinkle is, but you get the drift

ETA - i get it, and I would love a donut

Not only that, but this graphic is a great depiction of the incessant radar donut holes we get for just about every single snowstorm in DC metro.

What are your thoughts on sticking car windshield wipers up? Seems counterintuitive to me.. if they freeze, won’t they just freeze sticking up?

If you leave them down and they freeze to the windshield, if you try to use them, the rubber rips off and sticks to your windshield. Also makes it easier to scrape if they are lifted up

I know you all won’t do this, but…maybe just look out the window and enjoy it for however long it lasts before the flip rather than peering at the radar and obsessing over when the flip happens?

Just a gentle suggestion after reading through the obs thread…because it is absolutely gorgeous out and a legit snowfall is underway in the beltways….

Two schools of thought. Putting them up makes everything easier to clean off and keeps them from sticking.

On the other hand, it leaves them or your windshield vulnerable to damage if there are high winds. I've never really picked a side myself.

Been awake since 2 am (thank you tea).

Fox weather was doing special broadcasting at 4 am.

DC TV channels 4, 5 and 9 kicked in at 6 am with coverage, including their closures lists. Channel 4 estimated another 6 inches for the DC metro, while channel 5 thought there would be 3-5 inches added.

Almost time to see what channel 7 will say.

Good morning all!  I was pondering what is the best way to handle shoveling our driveway today. Do we start now and get a jump on it, or wait until later after the sleet/ freezing rain comes? That way it won’t be so icy underneath? I love shoveling. ️

I’m sorry but it has to be said.  This storm sucks.  What a waste of epic artic cold and prolific moisture.  Didn’t get to see one real snowflake in the daytime and now I get to be pelted by sleet as I shovel concrete.  Maybe 3 inches in Springfield which is now just getting compacted by sleet.   At this point I’m hoping for freezing rain since at least it will make the trees pretty.  I don’t care what the official “accumulation” figures are at the airports which count sleet on their boards, this is a big bust by all measures.  #endofweeniecrashout.

Just my opinion, but if you're going to do the driveway, do it now.  I think you'll want some snow under whatever falls after the transition.

Took care of my sidewalks a bit ago and threw down some ice melt. Hoping that will make it easier later today
