Full size. My husband tries to push growing zones, and prays for more global warming.... They were planted 8 years ago and flowered the last 5. Not very tall yet, maybe 10 feet. There's one at the cape that's been there for about 30 years. It's huge. I'm amazed it's lasted

Maybe what they are seeing is the non connection needed to get the storm to take shape over the water. We have 5 days, and yes it can change, but right now looking like a very minor event, at least for Thursday Friday. Friday. Staying really optimistic here, but at least beyond Thursday/ Friday, things don't look half bad. Something or some things are bound to take shape. It's such a frustrating game though LOL.

GFS would be like 18-24 hrs of light snow...at least it is mostly at night, otherwise it would be mostly white rain. I am ok with snow in the air in January, during winter...if this was late February or March, no thanks just give me some warm sun

The main focus on the GFS seems to be on the SLP further to the east.

and of course, it gets going once it is offshore, same story just a different year it seems.....I am sure it will do something down the line to screw up the next one, not help it

It just never really winds up. That trailing s/w doesn’t really phase in cleanly…it sorta coexists inside the trough and starts to close off. There isn’t a lot of moisture to work with until it hits the coast and by then the ULL is starting to open up and weaken. If you look at H85, we never really get much E inflow so the conveyors remain weak.

It just feels discombobulated.

Yeah, lets recover the mud and mess at least for a few more weeks, sun angle season is quickly approaching....much rather have these events now than later on when they just melt by noon

For sure! We didn't buy our current home until September '17, so no planting started until spring 2018

It’s so similar to last winter with the fast flow but colder than normal pattern. Early on you knew coastals would be next to impossible. I’ll be fine with a couple inches to make it wintry again.

Ok, let’s  not get to over dramatic. We don’t have to worry about any sun angle BS for quite some time.  Which has nothing to do with whether this upcoming system sucks or not.

We realistically have 4 weeks.....mid February, its already January 11th, time is flying. We get bigger systems in February and March and are always welcome....but hours of light snow, during the daytime are much different now than on say February 15th. My Greenhouse proves that year after year

I was up in Tupper Lake, NY for that event. I actually had a contest with an Alaskan friend to see who could stand outside without a shirt longer. We both called it quits after about three minutes. -30s is no joke.

Here’s the deal, if you have any type of system, that is even half way decent, the whole BS sun angle crap does not matter whatsoever.  October 2011 shot all that complete nonsense to the moon.   It’s all about the rates…period.   If it’s snowing pathetically light, then sure, you may get a quarter inch of accumulation now/in January, and it won’t accumulate in mid Feb, but is that really important?  No. Who really cares about that..nobody. 
 

The biggest/best storms/most snow comes in Feb most times…sun angle BS doesn’t factor in to that at all.  Only matters in very marginal/shit systems that aren’t worth the effort anyway.
