Jackstraw
Just drove up from the Asheville area. I knew there'd be sadness the further N I got so I stayed in the Mtn's into central WVA before I cut back NW. Always a beautiful drive but extra special with snow. I swear, Central to Western WVA gets some of the best snow east of the MS (excluding the far N of our sub) . Still snow on my property! But its shallow and lame and whats left will be destroyed tonight I fear. My climo reminding me its only early Dec, not mid Jan. lol. Here's hoping we down here can get caught back up through the weekend.

Going to have to leave it there.

I am decent with a pen but you just can't recreate sunlight contrast quite as well as with oil, and it's nearly impossible to make a scene seem genuinely life-like without properly representing even the smallest patches of sun. These are astounding, the way they capture natural lighting even better than a camera can.
cyclone77
DVN just issued the lamest winter storm warning in history. Talk about setting the bar low. Brief snow squalls with most areas seeing a DAB. Might as well just go all in and go with a blizzard warning, or hurricane warning. 1
buckeye
from cosgrove: see what I mean about all of that "Phase 8" nonsense that was the talk of the internet?). Remind yourself that for an MJO cold influence in North America, the lead impulse should be between Phases 6 and 1, be very strong, and have at least some connection to the polar westerlies. I always thought phases 3-6 correlated for warmth in our area
Jackstraw
Hello from NE FL. ! 70 and a light breeze as I sit on the porch and watch the surf. First of a few trips planned over the next couple of months. Oh my god the warning text only calls for an inch of snow, that's embarrassing. If it's for the blowing snow and flash freeze they should've just done a WWA. cyclone77
Looks like DVN canceled the winter storm warning. 90+% of the warning area received a trace or not a flake.
