Thanks! We actually are on the second floor. If i can't jump off the second story when I leave on Saturday it's a bust lol.

Eh, the plows up there are amazing - not sure you'd be OK in a Mustang, but pretty much anything else you'd make it. There is an extra bedroom in the Airbnb. Pack your laptop (I am) and c'mon up - dead serious. 5 feet of snow, temps not rising above 20 for the duration and absolutely no worries about whether or not you'll get a half-inch in downtown DC in a 10 day "fantasy" run  My kinda winter.

Temp down to 29 and wind is roaring again after a bit of a “lull” the last few hours.  Gusts into the 50s and 60s again - trees are bending sideways in the biggest gusts.  We lost power briefly earlier but thankfully still going strong. Had a few snow showers earlier that dropped a coating.

high of 52 a few hours ago, now 47. Martinsburg airport gusted to 56 last hour and yes, the power did flicker.

I have frequently posted about the drought, I wish to set the record straight and assure everyone that I'm not blaming low snowfall on the drought.

High ratio snowfall can easily accumulate with low moisture. My January qp averages 2.95". I could receive only 67%  of normal at 2.00" and easily accumulate 25 inches of dry snow.

Yes, I do believe with co-operating temperatures its easier to accumulate heavy snowfall with above average qp.  That is a common sense call.

Farmers often wish for snowfall in a drought to rebuild the water table. High ratio snowfall doesn't do a lot for the water table.

Not quite to freezing yet, 33.7/16.5 at 3:30 pm. Have a few flurries from time to time, that only means 'Shoe and Canaan are getting rocked lol. Highest wind gust so far was 47mph. Currently NW 16 gusting 35 mph. WC running 23 to 19 on those numbers right now. 

EDIT- I checked up (literally) at the airport (KHSP), they are 24 degrees with WNW 37 gusting to 49 mph. That puts their WC at 5 to 3. Chilly!

I went out for a hike this morning in the humidity and couldn’t wait for the front to pass. Turned into a perfect day!

It's over 40 degrees colder than at midnight. Serious front! Have a very light dusting otg although the snow is gradually increasing in intensity.

I had white out conditions for a solid 30 minutes this afternoon but otherwise just light snow/flurries but everything is covered in snow again (though the deck is clear due to the blowing snow).

Both models and LWX disco point to the evening when snow would accumulate/pick up in intensity as lift and moisture improves.  

This wind is nuts.

ETA:  And on cue, snow picking back up again.
