Dust in the wind for 3 hrs has whitened everything. Streets, rooftops, and lake ice.

Pixie dust light snow for a while has dusted the ground. Temp 28. Thinking 4-5" is a good call for here. Should be a bit of compaction in the early morning as temps rise above freezing, but still a solid winter wonderland expected.

May be a little dry-hole coming over the Poplar Grove area around 6pm. We’ll see if it fills in.

There was about 3-4 on the ground when I shoveled earlier. Looking similar out my window right now. So my uneducated, unsubstantiated guess would be 7 inches so far in the area.

The nice, fluffy flakes from the recent heavy pocket boosted my total to 10.2 inches.  Unfortunately, that was it for the good snow, so once again I will not get a 12" storm.

LES band developed here this aftrn. Light snow along the North Shore. Heavier down towards Duluth/Superior.

Looks like NW IL and NE IA will jackpot as the western edge starts to pivot. NE IL will probably get in on it too, expect much of Chicagoland to be 8-10” in the end.

The ECMWF did a pretty good job in the end with this system.

9.3 here as of 5pm.  Nice dendrites now with southeast winds starting to lighten up.

Yeah, but that stuff will be very light and gradually lift north as it moves east.  The latest CAMs have about another inch falling here over the next four hours.

Barely a dusting here. Not even enough to cover the leftover leaves I didn’t pick up….

6-8” here seems extremely unlikely unless we get some crazy 1”/hr rates late tonight. We are hours from the heavy bands from what I can see on the radar. I hope I’m wrong!
