Not to toot horns or anything but ... I remember posting back in spring that I thought this season would be challenged.  The reasoning cited was because of the - wait for it! - expanded HC phenomenon. Not just endemic to this season ... it's all summers going forward until the phenomenon historically reverses - when humanity goes extinct and is no longer terraforming the world ... but that's another debate altogether.  I think we can still get the higher end predictive quotas... but TC life behaviors are that they tend to spin up faster, and can reach big intensity, but also don't last as long because of what's going on in the paragraph below...

See ... ( just in case one person is actually interested - ), an expanded HC is not a stronger HC.  It is a weaker one.   The more it expands, the less identity it has as an actual circulation.  It starts to fracture... More trough meanders and TUTT riddled.  This both lowers the probability that an MDR transport makes it that far before encountering either a polarward steering interference, or an enhanced shear.   Looking back at this season and well ... it seems pretty clear that both those circumstances were observed as being particularly interfering.   Maybe I just got lucky with this overall idea?  but I don't think so.

I thought slightly AN. Too bullish on the peak, but nailed the big lull and when the tropics would heat up. It was a pretty big comeback but this season never had the runway others did.

Yeah you had a pretty solid call I'd say and really nailed that big lull which is big kudos.

So there are two mud seasons?

Should've written "6th season".
Once the trees stop sucking water from the soil, the first multi-inch rain event usually shuts down timber harvesting almost completely.  Only twice have I seen warm-season conditions progress into frozen ground without a mud time, 1976 and 2013.  This year might be a contender if freeze-up comes early, given the drought.

Bright sun today after 4 straight cloudy ones - that produced only 0.11" precip.

Just picked a good amount of cherry tomatoes . There’s a handful of various green , bell , and banana peppers growing that I can pick but will leave for now. A bunch of new flowers on pepper plants and some yellow flowers on tomato plants. Based on the mild / zonal look into mid Nov .. may be able to go another 3-4 weeks

I was in Stowe town on main road on way to an 8:00 meeting in Morristown this morning. It was 35 at my hotel in South Burlington and dropped to 31 in the lower spots on 89 South . Was 29-30 all the way from Stowe to Morristown / Lamoille …. Heavy frost . Still some leaves up there on some trees but many bare . Come home and picking veggies in garden . Just different worlds . I wish it would get cold but there’s none in sight

We bust balls about the long growing season and fake cold… in the end none of it really matters until the snow flies.

ULL around that early Nov period on the models occasionally, maybe you can thread the needle for birthday flakes.

@dendrite was there a Plymouth NH ASOS that was discontinued?

The only automated station there is 1P1. Whether or not they did manned obs there in the past (pre 1990s)…I’m not sure. I’m not aware of an old ICAO identifier there. Just the COOP. Are you looking for anything in particular?
