Chinook
I think this is a sugar maple, but I am not sure. The silver maples have slightly different leaves.

I did hear the east side of the city got a surprise strong storm (with flash flooding) yesterday though, which is something. Apparently, DET picked up nearly 2" of rain from it. It probably affected 25% of Detroit city and nowhere else.

Spartman
Wet stretch coming Sunday Euro 12z: GFS 12z: To add insult to injury however, models are in agreement on a large cutoff low coming by the middle of next week that is expected to be around through the end of the month. 12z Euro: 12z GFS:
OrdIowPitMsp
Wet day in the Twin Cities. After a dry stretch this is welcome moisture as the Butternut Squash in my garden gets ready to be harvested.

cyclone77
Picked up 0.15 from a dying cell earlier. Thundered nicely for over a half hour which was nice to hear.
Brian D
Football game was OK last night. Rain ended, and field was in good condition. It wasn't the homecoming game like I thought, that's in 2 weeks. My bad. But TH won against Pine City 7-0. Awesome defensive battle. THHS is 3-1 for the season so far. Still a wet day with drizzle, and shwrs around. Nearly an inch of rain so far the last couple days.

TheNiño
Managed to get a pretty decent little boomer out here last night. Tiny cell that just happed to go right over me at the right time. Was an absolute downpour for about 10 minutes and some decent c2c lightning with great rolling thunder. That should keep my bitching suppressed for a few days. A nice surprise and a good watering for the grass and plants. I am happy (for now). 1

TheNiño
More gentile rolling thunder and light rain making my evening. Very peaceful. Perfect Saturday evening to lounge in the screen porch with a book and a beer (or 4) just listening to the rain and thunder. The remaining hummingbirds have been fueling up at my feeder for their journey south. The lake has some decent waves today too (beach hazard statement just expired) after being pretty quiet lately. Great wx day today and my boredom is cured now. 1
cyclone77
It's looking like we will finish Sep with <0.50" of rain. That following a bit over 2" for August is pretty bad.

Brian D
Another wet, overcast AM. A band of shwrs moved through not long ago. The sun made a brief appearance yesterday tho. Basically nickel n dime'n the precip. 0.67", 0.52", & 0.12". We'll see what today brings. 3.41" for the month so far, which is avg (3.53").

Torchageddon
TWN had storms honed for my region, they formed elsewhere just to my east like 2-3 years ago that one summer they spawned just miles east every time. Kitchener got some and this MCS appeared to bow out a bit after the city. It was heavy rain cells with thunder I presume but one gained just east of downtown Toronto. Liked the air out there today, 27C. Fantastic summer all around.
sbnwx85
Scored two thunderstorms within a couple hours of each other tonight. Best rains were west and south of me but I still managed about 3/4 of an inch.
Brian D
Up to 3.85" for the month now (3.53" avg), and that looks to be about it for a while. Another foggy, misty AM. Sun broke out for a while yesterday aftrn before the fog rolled in again. Today, and tomorrow look to be about the same set up before things change. BTW, MRCC has a new website now. Very cool with a lot more tools on deck. https://mrcc.purdue.edu/

hawkeye_wx
A nice line of storms moved southward through central and eastern Iowa last evening. It produced what may have been the best light show of the year. I finished with 0.66" of rain, a welcome soak. The solid storm a week ago and the one last night have re-greened the lawns a bit. My September rain total is 1.29".
TheClimateChanger
Incredible changes are afoot. At Akron-Canton Regional Airport in Ohio, just 0.29" of rain was observed between August 1 and September 21. Yesterday, more than 5x that amount fell - and all on or after 3 pm. The final daily tally was 1.46 inches of rain for the 22nd.
WestMichigan
It looks like this week's drought monitor might look a little different across Michigan. Not enough to erase long term deficits but everything is now very green around here.

Localized cloudburst dropped over 2” in about 45 minutes IMBY this evening. Heaviest I have seen it rain this whole year. This isn’t on that map yet. SE side of GR needed it so bad.
