I think this is a sugar maple, but I am not sure. The silver maples have slightly different leaves.

I did hear the east side of the city got a surprise strong storm (with flash flooding) yesterday though, which is something.

Apparently, DET picked up nearly 2" of rain from it.

They did. It was so small and isolated but trained. It probably affected 25% of Detroit city and nowhere else.

To add insult to injury however, models are in agreement on a large cutoff low coming by the middle of next week that is expected to be around through the end of the month.

Wet day in the Twin Cities. After a dry stretch this is welcome moisture as the Butternut Squash in my garden gets ready to be harvested.

Picked up 0.15 from a dying cell earlier. Thundered nicely for over a half hour which was nice to hear.

Football game was OK last night. Rain ended, and field was in good condition. It wasn't the homecoming game like I thought, that's in 2 weeks. My bad. But TH won against Pine City 7-0. Awesome defensive battle. THHS is 3-1 for the season so far. Still a wet day with drizzle, and shwrs around. Nearly an inch of rain so far the last couple days.

Yes, looks like our spell of nearly ideal weather is coming to an end.

Managed to get a pretty decent little boomer out here last night. Tiny cell that just happed to go right over me at the right time. Was an absolute downpour for about 10 minutes and some decent c2c lightning with great rolling thunder. That should keep my bitching suppressed for a few days. A nice surprise and a good watering for the grass and plants. I am happy (for now).

More gentile rolling thunder and light rain making my evening. Very peaceful. Perfect Saturday evening to lounge in the screen porch with a book and a beer (or 4) just listening to the rain and thunder. The remaining hummingbirds have been fueling up at my feeder for their journey south. The lake has some decent waves today too (beach hazard statement just expired) after being pretty quiet lately. Great wx day today and my boredom is cured now.
