Washington, DC is concluding its driest August on record. August 2025 will finish with just 0.20" (5.1 mm) of rain. That will easily surpass the old record of 0.55" (14.0 mm), which was set in 1962. Precipitation records go back to 1871.

Daily rainfall August 1962 vs. August 2025 is below.

This was all because I finally threw in the towel and reaped myself for the summer 2014 redux at the end of July.

I’ll try pressing my luck and set up an auto-reap for this winter on November 1; that oughta lock us in an 09-10.

If this works…..

What a beautiful day. My dad and I put our boat in this morning and did some crabbing on the Wye River. It felt like a mid October crabbing trip.

Can't beat a Wye River crab. Hopefully you got some fat brown bottoms.

Their wasn't big numbers but the crabs we did keep were really fat with nice Wye River yellow mustard. I agree.. Best tasting crabs around. I didn't take off the hoodie until almost 10. Wild for August.

I got a bushel in Crab Alley this morning. Should be a good fall for crabs.

Beautiful! That's one of my favorite spots. We put in at Kent Narrows and rode across Eastern Bay and up into the Wye. I waved to Crab Alley in the distance. Glad you did well too! Back to weather. Sorry

It's f**king Beautiful out.

Like you, I had the hoodie on all morning. Absolutely beautiful on the water, and now cooling down nicely as we work on the crabs.

Happy last day of met summer!

Fat rusty bottom crabs always have that nice yellow mustard. Best tasting crab and full of meat.

Yep, it took until 3:30 pm for me to cross 70 today, currently 72.2/54.0 at 3:50 pm.

Unbelievable for late August. I’m glad you got a chance to enjoy an amazing weekend of weather out there in the mountains. Gorgeous mornings and fantastic afternoons to be outside.

Turned on the heated floor in my bathroom for the first time since spring.  With the cloud cover it's actually a bit chilly at times in the breeze, crazy for August.

I am so damn jealous its not even funny.

We've had 75 dews for months. I have gotten so accustomed to 98/75 that I kick back on a plastic chair in the back porch in the shade and fall fast asleep while I am supposed to be watering mom's plants. I am so used to humid weather, that at night while delivering I often have the windows down, in 78/74 conditions.
