We'll do the usual Portland trip for lobstah one day, lean toward nature stuff the other days. Any must see or must do's in the area? Don't mind driving a bit. I like Lobstermans Wharf on East Boothbay. Nice boat ride and good lobster feast.

The White Mountains area really isn’t all that far away. Head up towards Fryeburg then west from there to Conway. At that point you are fairly close to the Kanc, which has some great swimming spots along side it.

Do a trip to 5 Islands Lobster in Georgetown and combine it with a visit to the beach at Reid state park which is only 2 or 3 miles down the road on the same peninsula. Frosty's in Brunswick is only open 4 days a week but makes great donuts. https://apps.web.maine.gov/cgi-bin/online/doc/parksearch/details.pl?park_id=13 https://fiveislandslobster.com/ https://www.frostysdonuts.com/

You can even rent a little boat next to five island lobster and putter around. Reid State Park is spectacular.

Hit up the old port in Portland for some fine seafood, Port Hole Restaurant, Jay's Oyster Bar Or (Dimillow's Floating Restaurant, Bit Pricey Though), Head down to Old Orchard Beach in Scarborough or you can canoe the salt marsh on the way into there. If you have access to a boat, take it up the Songo river, through the locks, across Brandy Pond, and dock in Naples for lunch.

Flying MXZ
Thanks for the advice everyone. We'll definitely check out some of these. Probably not the boats though, can say I've spent less than 2 hours on a boat in my life. And no time at the helm.

kdxken
"Upper ridge continues to dominate as increasing SW flow brings more humid air into region, but not as oppressive as what we experienced earlier in summer. Additionally, gradient remains weak enough to allow for sea breezes along both coasts Mon and probably Tue as well. Combination of highs in low to mid 90s inland and dewpoints climbing into mid 60s will yield heat index close to 95 degrees, especially Tue, but it still looks marginal at this point in parts of CT and Merrimack Valleys as well as northern RI and interior eastern MA." TheClimateChanger
Made it up to 100F at Dixfield, Maine yesterday (reported as today's high due to morning observation time). Several other locations in the State reached 99F. While falling well shy of the monthly state record of 104F, that was the 1st 100F high temperature observed in the State of Maine in the month of August since August 15, 2001, when it reached 101F at Livermore Falls 1 E. I believe that was also a morning observation, as the prior day had a high of 100F at Fryeburg, Maine. In fact, since the record heat wave of 1975, only one other date besides yesterday & the date(s) in 2002... on August 9, 2001, Fryeburg reached 100F. RUNNAWAYICEBERG
Lol: The Trump administration’s claim that it is saving billions of dollars through DOGE-related cuts to federal contracts is drastically exaggerated, according to a new POLITICO analysis of public data and federal spending records. Through July, DOGE said it has saved taxpayers $52.8 billion by canceling contracts, but of the $32.7 billion in actual claimed contract savings that POLITICO could verify, DOGE’s savings over that period were closer to $1.4 billion. Despite the administration’s claims, not a single one of those 1.4 billion dollars will lower the federal deficit unless Congress steps in. Instead, the money has been returned to agencies mandated by law to spend it. DOGE’s savings calculations are based on faulty math. The group uses the maximum spending possible under each contract as its baseline — meaning all money an agency could spend in future fiscal years. That amount can far exceed what the government has actually committed to pay out. Counting this “ceiling value” gives a false picture of savings for taxpayers. “That's the equivalent of basically taking out a credit card with a $20,000 credit limit, canceling it and then saying, ‘I've just saved $20,000,’” said Jessica Tillipman, associate dean for government procurement law studies at George Washington University Law School. “Anything that’s been said publicly about [DOGE’s] savings is meaningless.”
