  1. Madison has April school break this week. They try to be different than the other towns. I don't think any other district is having school break this week. Sent from my moto g 5G (2022) using Tapatalk
  2. Sky conditions at ROC right now. So, I'm off to the Rochester Science Museum to see the two toed Sloth Exhibit and the eclipse planetarian show. So, at least I will see an eclipse on the big screen! [emoji16]. They don't have that in Newport, VT....lol Sent from my moto g 5G (2022) using Tapatalk
  3. Just sitting in Rochester, NY right now hoping the models are wrong. I might drive a bit east along the lake, but it doesn't appear that will make much difference at this point. Funny thing is that I did originally have hotel reservations for Magog, QC and we changed them a few weeks ago to Rochester, so we would go to Niagara Falls after. I feel bad for the folks who paid over $700 a night for hotel rooms here for clouds. I stayed free on points. Sent from my moto g 5G (2022) using Tapatalk
  4. Ok..... consensus......should I switch my hotel reservations in Rochester, NY and switch to Cornwall, Ontario? I have until midnight to cancel Rochester.....so the clock is ticking. Will the cloud cover be a lot less in Cornwall? I have to drive to Niagara Falls the next day.....so don't want to go any further east than that. Sent from my moto g 5G (2022) using Tapatalk
  5. I hope so. CT crew is overdue for a good one. Private snow removal folks are starving here. Sent from my moto g 5G (2022) using Tapatalk
  6. Anyone surprised no watch up for the CT coast? Anyone familiar with North Madison and North Guilford realize those areas literally border interior zones to the west and east.....North Branford and Killiingworth, yet still classified as southern zones of New Haven county. I guess not much can be done about that unless they become separate towns. But in these types of situations we could get as slammed up here when the immediate coast doesn't do nearly as well. Guess just one the nuances that can't be fixed. Sent from my moto g 5G (2022) using Tapatalk
  7. Wow, I'm surprised no one has mentioned staying in southern Quebec or the Eastern Townships for this event. I've checked and hotel availability seems a lot better there than NNE. Sherbrooke, Quebec is my pick for this event. But Magog and other towns also seemed to have good hotel availability without the inflated prices I'm seeing here. The one exception may be Niagara Falls, ON. Rates were high over there. Sent from my moto g 5G (2022) using Tapatalk
  8. Don't tell that to the folks living in Madison on the central CT coast. Trees are so close to the power lines here ....we lose power on almost every storm with over 40 mph winds. Sent from my moto g 5G (2022) using Tapatalk
  9. Or to a Motorola Android phone, like I have.....lol. Counting the pennies. Sent from my motorola one 5G ace using Tapatalk
  10. Only thing.....uses a ton more electricity than Individual units. My electric bill dropped by like $100.00. Sent from my motorola one 5G ace using Tapatalk
  11. Ahhh....I didn't realize that. Looks like it only goes out of Bar Harbor now. Sent from my motorola one 5G ace using Tapatalk
  12. I'd just drive to Portland and then take the ferry boat to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, if they are still running. Sent from my motorola one 5G ace using Tapatalk
  13. I downloaded the TV news apps for Maine and the TV mets there are really downplaying this storm. Think they will be in for a big surprise if the further west models verify with landfall in Central or Eastern ME. Sent from my moto g 5G (2022) using Tapatalk
  14. I feel the same way. I'm 49. I still have vivid memories of Gloria and Bob though. Toured the Mount Washington Observatory 2 days before Bob hit and the Met there was almost certain Bob would miss us. Left North Conway 6 AM to almost beat the storm, but we still got slammed with torrential rains heading into Mass. I still say it ain't over till it's over. Stranger things have happened with tropical systems, but I get it that it seems to take an act of God to get a full fledged cane up here. Sent from my moto g 5G (2022) using Tapatalk
  15. Full sun out in North Madison, CT.....(Durham line)......and 86 degrees. Dew point 73 Sent from my motorola one 5G ace using Tapatalk
  16. That 41" is right over my turf! I hope OKX is wrong this time. Sent from my motorola one 5G ace using Tapatalk
  17. Yeah, so I'd have to say It's game over for coastal CT. I've never seen OKX wrong, when they have a strong conviction like that. If I remember correctly in Dec, 92, the southern quarter of CT was all rain....when interior half was all snow. If the gradient is similar, maybe they will be right. 18. What are the chances of the Cape getting hit from storm #1 this weekend? I'll be in Sandwich from Friday to Sunday. So it needs to go further SE. Sent from my motorola one 5G ace using Tapatalk
  19. As of 7:45 am.....North Madison, CT 10.9" with light snow currently. Definitely over-performed here.....wow
  20. Epic ice situation here in North Madison, CT this morning! A huge multi-car pile up on route 79 right near my street! I was driving back from dropping my daughter off at school.....and the road back was a literal ice skating rink!! I parked off the road in a cemetery to walk back home....since they had closed off this road. A car passed me sliding sideways down the road! Thankfully no one was seriously injured on the pile up. This is right near the North Madison/Durham line. Temps were right at 30 to 31 degrees.... Roads obviously not pre-treated.
  21. Hey everyone! I may not always say much, but I am on here quite a bit......just reading through. Can someone please enlighten me on this.....I've seen "the pig" referenced several times. I get that if the "the pig returns" it means we aren't getting snow or cold. But, can someone please tell more specifically what pattern that "the pig" refers to? I'm just curious. Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving!
  22. All snow at the North Madison/Durham CT line! I'm at 304ft elevation and the temperature is 34°
  23. With Joe Fury recently taking over as co-chief meteorologist, I must disagree. Fury is a legend. Best radio Meteorologist of all time WTIC radio. But here in N. Madison.....not expecting much with this one. I’ll be happy with 1 to 3 inches at this point.
  24. So, I’m getting married November 16th in Chester, CT, then off to a short honeymoon in Sherbrooke, Quebec November 17 through the 20th. Burning question.....will there be snow on the ground in Chester that day and will it still be freezing in Sherbrooke? I’d love a big snow event up there. Can we work some magic?
