Merry Christmas folks! Glad to be back from the UK so I don't miss this one. Looks like we are right on the brink in SE New Haven county. -
December 14th - Snow showers or Plowable snow?
CTSkywarn replied to Sey-Mour Snow's topic in New England
Of course I am in the UK right now until Tuesday and will miss the south coast CT special, it sounds like. Hopefully not the only advisory level event this season. Upper 40s here, clear skies right now. -
Overnight Wednesday, November 5, 2025 Wind Event

WFSB calling for gusts over 50 MPH for the eastern half of CT. This could be an over performer. I just have a feeling...... -
Overnight Wednesday, November 5, 2025 Wind Event

Don't tell that to the folks in North Madison, CT. We have lost power in the last 3 rain/wind events with only a wind advisory in place. It's a major problem here with many tree limbs touching or very close to the power lines. -
Toured the National Weather Center complex in Norman, Oklahoma today! Highly recommend if any of you ever come down here. No severe wx though. Just very hot and dry. Temps near 100.
-
I sure hope not! Wanted to get down there to tour it before Trump shuts it down.

I have a trip planned to Tornado Alley the 1st week of August! Staying 3 nights in Norman, OK, Osage Beach, MO, and Galena, IL. Touring the National Weather Center in Norman. I know it's not the peak tornado season down there, but what do you folks think the odds are of me encountering some severe weather down there that time of year?

Madison has April school break this week. They try to be different than the other towns. I don't think any other district is having school break this week. Sent from my moto g 5G (2022) using Tapatalk

Sky conditions at ROC right now. So, I'm off to the Rochester Science Museum to see the two toed Sloth Exhibit and the eclipse planetarian show. So, at least I will see an eclipse on the big screen! [emoji16]. They don't have that in Newport, VT....lol Sent from my moto g 5G (2022) using Tapatalk

Just sitting in Rochester, NY right now hoping the models are wrong. I might drive a bit east along the lake, but it doesn't appear that will make much difference at this point. Funny thing is that I did originally have hotel reservations for Magog, QC and we changed them a few weeks ago to Rochester, so we would go to Niagara Falls after. I feel bad for the folks who paid over $700 a night for hotel rooms here for clouds. I stayed free on points. Sent from my moto g 5G (2022) using Tapatalk

Ok..... consensus......should I switch my hotel reservations in Rochester, NY and switch to Cornwall, Ontario? I have until midnight to cancel Rochester.....so the clock is ticking. Will the cloud cover be a lot less in Cornwall? I have to drive to Niagara Falls the next day.....so don't want to go any further east than that. Sent from my moto g 5G (2022) using Tapatalk

Anyone surprised no watch up for the CT coast? Anyone familiar with North Madison and North Guilford realize those areas literally border interior zones to the west and east.....North Branford and Killiingworth, yet still classified as southern zones of New Haven county. I guess not much can be done about that unless they become separate towns. But in these types of situations we could get as slammed up here when the immediate coast doesn't do nearly as well. Guess just one the nuances that can't be fixed. Sent from my moto g 5G (2022) using Tapatalk

Wow, I'm surprised no one has mentioned staying in southern Quebec or the Eastern Townships for this event. I've checked and hotel availability seems a lot better there than NNE. Sherbrooke, Quebec is my pick for this event. But Magog and other towns also seemed to have good hotel availability without the inflated prices I'm seeing here. The one exception may be Niagara Falls, ON. Rates were high over there. Sent from my moto g 5G (2022) using Tapatalk

CTSkywarn replied to Torch Tiger's topic in New England
Don't tell that to the folks living in Madison on the central CT coast. Trees are so close to the power lines here ....we lose power on almost every storm with over 40 mph winds. Sent from my moto g 5G (2022) using Tapatalk -
