Feast or famine with rain...bone try here with pollen coating everything...

It's been a pretty epic stretch of weather though on the shoreline. Both GON and HVN are +3 for May. It's also been sunny here every pretty much day when I look at my solar production.

Another 31 this morning.  May be upper 20s here Thursday morning, probably not low enough to damage the apple blossoms, which will be near full by then.  Lots of bee action in the few that had opened last Saturday - good sign.  We plan to be in SNJ by Wed night, and they're expecting 40 or upper 30s even down there the following morning.

Wednesday afternoon is looking pretty chilly.  NAM has early highs in the mid-50s for most of SNE, but then the max temps from 2pm - 8pm (18z-00z) are cool.

Max in the low 40s up here all day on this prog.

GFS though is about 10F warmer in SNE... still 40s up here.

It’s a bit deceiving because the highs for the day happen prior to the 2-8pm time frame.  The GFS holds the temps past 2pm so they get into that map’s time.

Still get that 55-60F he’s been saying but it happens at like 11am and then falls after. Very tough to see falling temps with max solar this time of year though.  It’s more likely to hold steady and/or fight the CAA but it’ll be interesting to see what happens after 2pm on Wednesday.

Yeah it’s always too cold this time of year. There was a similar setup in Napril and Nam was badly embarrassed. We are coming up on max solar time of year, dry ground , dry air which warms easily.. GFS should easily win

Two weeks ago today, the Carrabassett River recorded its 2md highest peak flow in its 90+ year history and the Sandy marked its 4th highest, similar POR.  This morning both rivers are under their 25th percentile flow, the flashier Carrabassett closer to its record low than 25th percentile.  Ten rain-free days with low RH and trees ramping up their water demand has made for a rather precipitous (pun intended) drop in those rivers.

That's a pretty chilly airmass. 850s getting down around -8/-9 up there. Maybe you can grab a little uplsope.

Yeah we'll see if there's enough moisture around.

The 3km NAM has -1C 925mb temps at 2pm in the afternoon up here.  Pretty frigid even if this is overdone.

Wednesday up in the NNE Mtns should be quite chilly.

We all could go 3-4 weeks with little to no rain and be fine other than the feet of tree pollen that’s all over everything. There’s still water draining out of some hillsides around here

Lord have mercy if this right ..

Nah, will be fine through end of month after the first week’s rainfall.

Just enjoy the nice dry weather.

While not a drought(yet) going 3 weeks or more with a couple tenths of rain when there’s 8-15” of pollen all over everything , newly planted flowers , gardens , lawns.. you do need rain

Yeah it's a pain to water. Shouldn't be doing that in May, but here we are.

Just busting your balls a bit, but it’s every year now unless it’s a 40-inch summer. It can rain 6-12” and then go a dry week or two and the discussion focuses back on drought… when after the rain ends everyone is like oh we good for a month or so at least now.

Is something changing in climo or are we just focusing on it so much more in the past 5 years or so on the forum?

I swear we never used to talk or worry or complain about this stuff in the past, lol.

Is our rain now coming in short high volume ways now when a decade ago it came more frequent lighter amounts?  May rainfall in New England 5/1-15 if anything is on the wet side.

Or did we as a forum population age so now we worry about shit like watering plants?

We seem so hyper focused these summers now.

I'm just speaking from someone who does a lot in the yard. Dry May's just aren't good. It's a stepping stone to a lot of work to be done when the heat is on during the summer. I don't need 8" of rain, but normal rainfall would be appreciated.

I do feel like we are constantly seeing those qpf holes in the long range modeling the last 12 months, specifically in the spring/summer..but could also be recency bias as stated. I have been more invested in my yard/lawn during the same timeframe.but shit luck/bad timing either way.

Last June/July was brutal..
