Ha that's true. I don't know I feel like all of this changes very quickly in a few weeks when ~50% of adults have had their first shot.

Not any attempt to conjure an unintended ...unwinnable political popsicle headache but wasn’t the CDC gutted of the pandemic arm by the previous administration ?

the incoming administration has had to scaffold a response model almost from scratch.

...seems the CDC may take the oath of least liability by always implicating the worst of if all possible scenarios -

How many people have been arrested for not wearing masks?   Pretty much zero.   It’s not like Covid was the flu.  Over 500k Americans and counting. We did horribly here at controlling it.
It should be back to normal pretty soon is my guess.  Numbers are dropping in every category.  Maybe not as quickly as some would like but we are getting there.

This summer will be pretty much “normal” IMO. Maybe we still wear masks at the grocery store, but other than that, we’re making great progress all around.

The poop seems to be the most accurate predictor of trends imho.  Are they doing it in other places beside MWRA?

im also looking forward to warmer weather to drink beers outdoors at breweries.  That was always my preference before the Vid

Oh yeah. I recall that.   Out where I live everyone uses septic systems. In towns nearby that have town sewer they don’t feed into MWRA and they don’t test that I know of

Yeah we are part of the MWRA here, but both of our parents have septic too. I think it gives us a good idea all around anyways.

We have septic too.. I'd be willing to bet there's  covid taint floating around in it. Wife is a long hauler, and no it's not anxiety driven, based on her abnormal EEG results

i think Ryan stated upthread that the goal of the initial lockdowns was the "flatten the curve" to protect the collapse of our healthcare system. it worked for the most part. the goal was never to have zero covid cases, but that seems to be Fauci's want right now, which again as stated above, is impossible.

The vaccines don't even 100% protect you from getting covid. However they are 99+% at preventing severe cases of covid, which is really good. But the messaging out there has not reached the general public, aside from us educated folks. It needs to be stated clearly and frequently that even though you have gotten the vaccine, you may still get covid.

Twitter is going to go haywire the first time that someone who has gotten the vaccine gets covid.

Already happened. Some people, anecdotal of course contracted covid between their 2 shots. The best protection will be ~2-3 wks after the 2nd dose.

My mother contracted Covid like 2 weeks after her first shot. It’s not even that uncommon, I’ve heard several similar stories. Especially between the first and second shot

Happy to see that I am now eligible for getting vaccinated, although I am thinking it will take me a while to find an appointment.

I really think supermarket workers, etc should be ahead of me in line though

Based on my experience don’t bother.  We can’t say anything because then the Covidiots start spewing even more nonsense and all Covid talk gets shut down.

which actually is better than reading these posts...so maybe attack away?

2 years ago tonight was really the mother of all thumps. I'll leave this quote right here from Dendrite about Blue Hill:

That’s 0.89” in 3hr. That is batshit crazy.  Nearly 0.40" was in 1hr.

Heh, reminds me of a separate problem...   too many think it does -

(not you per se ) but here's the deal - when you have population of 8 billion Global inhabitants gradually supifying by modern-convenience-addling ... pretty much losing their ability for critical weighting of incoming information and data in an objective filtration, they will believe Twitter is truth.

So be it - right?

Except that a quarter of 8 is 2 ...     2         BILLION.

Scale the down all we want... you don't need but a tiny fraction of deviancy from norms ... to seriously cause a major ripple effect leading to dreaded consequence - pick adjectives...

This in terms of a National security ( Global too ) is a problem when fringe ideologies become righteously self-absolving and believing in their morality, because they've 'found one another' on the internet, and sociologically ... humans cannot avoid supremacy by numbers - we are a socially motivating species.

'Hey, ur my kind of peep' - ... emboldened, we end up with throngs of fringe lunacy storming the Capital  ... and all they really have in common is hostile dysfunction needing a cause to be violent - nothing that would ever pass any kind of functionally sane litmus test.
