Thanks for posting the anomalies...the original ECMWF image I shared was supposed to loop and show this but it's not animating. Also...well said on the short-term trends tomorrow. Models not handling convection in FL very well this morning so it's likely none of them have it pegged here tomorrow either.

Is it possible this could bring a storm surge on the Florida west coast?  Reminiscent of the March 1993 superstorm!

We have seen tornadoes on two diametrically opposite parts of the country in the last couple of days- near Seattle and near Orlando!

LIX tied the previous December 500mb height record low at 00Z this evening. This is a testament to how anomalous this system is and will be.

The majority of the forecast models have heights lowering to all-time record lows overnight, so the 12Z sounding will be fun to see. The spread in today's guidance is essentially 5410-5415m.

The previous lowest 500 height there going back to the late '40s was 5440m, set in March.

12Z at LIX at 5420m. New Record.  Looks like OKX PWAT will be a new met winter record at 12Z.

Roads closed around here, some trees down. No surprise that convective type rains would overperform in areas abd underperform in others....well apparently it was a surprise to some.

It will also be a tricky travel across the Hudson River bridges for the tractor trailers with those southern winds ripping up the river canyon.

The gw and the palisades late last night had the worst fog ive ever encountered in my life. Went from that to gusty winds and flooding on the pip this morning. Its a miracle traffic isnt worse today.

if we had that kind of convective snow, you'd see bridge jumping going on from some here lol.  It's a lot more tame in here during a rainstorm.

The traffic is at the airports. Good luck to those folks today. Up here the fog was heavy last night too, and the temperature jumped 14 degrees in 4 hours. 32 degree temperature jump in 24 hours.
